Chapter 29

You had just gotten home, quickly setting your things down and working your way to the kitchen to cook dinner. Your day had been long, there was a lot of your coworkers who had very bad starts to their morning and you received the backlash from it. You even had to stay late because one of them hadn't shown up to work, therefore, your boss asked you to stay later to try and help the company catch up on the work that would be late.

So, there you were, exhausted, preparing dinner. A couple of moments later, you heard the door open, before a little girl with curly hair and glowing brown eyes stepped through the door. At her mere height of being a 7 year old, she looked around searching for her mom on her tip toes.

"Mommy!" She said, with the biggest smile on her face as soon as her eyes caught your figure. She began running toward you, arms wide open and legs preparing to launch herself into your arms. You braced your legs as she flung her tiny body into your arms, wrapping herself around your waist like a little koala bear. You peppered her face with kisses as she snuggled into your chest, letting out a content sigh. "Hello sweet girl, how was your day?" You asked, brushing the hair out of your face with your hand.

A few seconds after you spoke you saw your husband walk through the door with your daughter's backpack in hand. "Hey there love." He said, closing the door before promptly moving towards you.

"It was such a good day Nii-chan and I played all day long, and then daddy picked me up and we got ice cream. But he told me not to tell you because we didn't eat dinner yet." She said, before putting her finger to her lips and shushing you.

You laughed, placing her on the ground and fixing her hair once more. "It's okay I'll let you get away with this one. But, I'm glad you had a good day, you deserve it for all the hard work you've been putting in to help us with chores."

Oikawa placed her backpack on the counter before wrapping his arms around you and placing a kiss on your forehead. "Thanks for getting started on dinner, let me change and I'll come help you." He said with a smile on his face before adjusting his glasses.

Both you and Oikawa had been in bed for a couple hours, fast asleep before you heard both your names being called.

"Mommy, Daddy!" The high pitched voice of your daughter rang out in the middle of the night. Both you and Oikawa sat up, looked at each other, then jumped out of bed, sprinting out of the bedroom in a haste to check on your daughter. You beat Oikawa to the door, before pushing it open and emerging into her dark room as Oikawa hastily turned on the light.

"Mommy and Daddy" She repeated, her eyes wide open and filled with tears.

"We're here, we're here." You said softly, scooping up your daughter and cradling her in your arms. Oikawa sat down on the bed beside you. "What's wrong sweetie?" He asked, running his hand along her cheek and wiping away her tears. She sniffled, her eyes filling with tears again. "I had a nightmare. You guys died and I lost you. " She said with the saddest sounding tone in her voice you'd ever heard from her.

"It's okay you didn't lose us, we're right here baby," You said softly, placing a kiss on her forehead. Oikawa's own eyes started tearing up. The thought of losing you was enough to break his heart into two. You were his love, his wife, his best friend. But the thought of leaving your daughter, was enough to shatter his soul into a million pieces. That was his worst nightmare as a parent, leaving behind the angel you and him had created, alone.

"We're not going anywhere. We're right here together." He said, gently taking his daughter into his arms, wiping away more of her tears. "And we'll be here, to see you get married, to kick the butt of whatever person thinks they're worthy of you. To watch you graduate, for you to come home to. We'll be here for it. There's no way we're going to let death beat us out of those special moments." Oikawa softly whispered to her, playing with her hair to try and calm her down.

"Pinky promise?" She asked, holding up her tiny finger for both you and Oikawa. You looked at each other, before you both gave her your pinkies.

"How about you come sleep with us. "Oikawa said, hoping to see a smile fill her face. Well, that did the trick, her smile grew over the entirety of her face. She nodded her head, before you got up, beckoning her to follow. Oikawa and your daughter followed behind you as you made your way to your room. Oikawa slid into bed as you lifted your daughter up, placing her in between you two. She snuggled underneath the blankets, reaching for both you and Oikawa's hand to hold.

Oikawa softly began singing to her, while you played with her hair, slowly lulling her to sleep. Within minutes she began to doze off, before she whispered, "I love you mommy and daddy." You smiled, saying it back just as quietly while Oikawa switched songs, gently singing his favorite,

"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be."

Within minutes, she was fast asleep, wrapped in blankets, burrowed into both you and your husband's side.

"Hey I made a pretty cute girl didn't I?" Oikawa asked, watching as she peacefully slept.

"We made a pretty cute girl Tooru."

"She looks most like me."

"Alright you made a pretty cute girl."

"(f/n)! Why do you say that, WE made a pretty cute girl don't say such silly things." He said, a smile on his face as he watched you roll your eyes.

"I love you." You said, eyes slowly growing heavy as your exhausting day at work finally took a toll on you.

"I love you more than you could ever know. Goodnight my beautiful wife." Oikawa said softly, watching as you too fell asleep. He sighed, next to him were the most beautiful girls to have walked the planet. And they were both his to love and cherish forever. With this in mind, he too fell asleep, eyes closing as the last thing he saw and thought of that night was the two girls he loved most.
