It was early the next morning when Taylor pulled her jeep to a halt under the covered drive at the Spa. "Alright," She grinned in the rear view mirror, "what do you two want for breakfast?"
"Pancakes." Dominick spoke up from the back seat.
"Yes." Andrea clapped her hands.
The doors of the jeep opened. Two smiling valets appeared and helped the children out of the vehicle. They bounded up the stone steps of the hotel.
Taylor grabbed her purse, and hurried after them, "Dom, Andy, slow down."
They giggled as they hurried to the front desk to greet the agent. "We want pancakes." They told her, jumping up and down to see over the high counter.
The desk agent leaned forward with a smile. "Pancakes, huh." She looked to Taylor. "Shall I have breakfast sent up?"
"Yes, three pancake breakfasts." Taylor answered, she turned to the kids. "Come on. Let's go up to the office."
The kids ran to the bay of elevators, and fought over the privilege of pushing the button. Being the eldest, Dominick won. Though once they were inside the elevator, he lifted his sister so she could reach the number five button.
"Good job, Dom." Taylor whispered to her nephew who beamed at the praise. Her cell phone began ringing, the caller ID said Doctor Gable. "Sam."
"Taylor. How are you?" The doctor asked.
"I'm well." Taylor answered. "How have you been?" The elevator doors opened on the fifth floor, she followed the kids to the office doors. Opal was at her desk in the reception area.
"I'm getting there." Sam answered. "I wanted to apologize for leaving you in the lurch."
"No, Sam," Taylor paced the floor, "No, there's no reason for you to apologize. It wasn't your fault."
"I found a replacement." Sam continued. "A friend of mine. Alex Carver is a top notch doctor. I actually worked with him while he was doing his residency. He was incredible in the trauma room."
"He's already here, and already making his mark." Taylor said, "Last night, Daisy's placenta ruptured while we were on the elevator. Dr. Carver happened to be in the right place at the right time, and saved both her and the baby."
"Wow." There was relief in the older doctors voice. "I'm so glad. I hope you decide to keep him on. I think he'll fit really well."
"Thank you, Sam. I appreciate you sending him to us." They exchanged a few more pleasantries before saying goodbye. Taylor watched the kids run through to her office, and jump onto the couch at the back. "Their breakfast should be here shortly." She told Opal. "Daisy had her baby last night."
"Awe, what did she have?"
"A girl."
"What's her name?"
"I have no idea." Taylor answered, "They hadn't decided on a name the last I knew and I haven't spoken to them in a while."
"Well," Opal grinned, "congratulations, Auntie."
"Thanks. It is always exciting when the family expands."
"How is the big brother and big sister taking it?"
"They just miss Mommy." Taylor answered.
"Here's the file on the new doctor." Opal handed over a manila folder. "His resume, and references. He actually left them at the front desk this morning, so I picked it up and I've already checked his references. I made notes for you."
