Taylor stared at the sleek red sports car sitting at the curb, "Uh, no, I don't think this is going to work."

Alex opened the passenger door and stood back as the nurse pushed her chair closer, "It's better than the jeep. The seat is all the way back. You should be able to slide in with no problems."

Taylor struggled to push to her feet. With her good hand on the top of the car door, and her cast resting on top of the car roof, she hopped closer.

"Lower yourself in, then twist around."

She turned, and carefully lowered her bottom to the car. Her left leg was easy to pull in, but her right got caught. She leaned back across the center console and squeezed her leg in. Exhausted from the effort, she leaned back in the seat as Alex closed the door, and stowed her things in the trunk.

When he climbed in beside her, he reached over to help her buckle her seat belt. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," She forced a smile. "Just tired."

He reached over and touched her knee, "Are you in pain?"

"A little, but not much."

"Do you want a pill before we go?"

"No, but I could use some food."

"If you can wait until we get home, the girls have something special planned."

"Awe..." Taylor found a genuine smile, "How sweet. I can't wait to see them, I've missed them, and sweet little Mason."

Alex started the powerful engine, and pulled away from the curb. A few minutes later, they were on the road leading to the resort. "So..."

"So?" She asked when he paused.

"What's the story with Marc?"

She sighed, and watched the scenery fly by the window a few moments before answering, "We were engaged once."

"Really? I thought you don't date employees."

"And he would be the reason."

"I see."

She continued to watch the scenery as the car went silent.

"How long were you together?"

"Off and on since High School."

"Interesting."

"I'm sure you don't want to hear all the sordid details of my failed relationship."

"Well, you know all about mine. Why not?"

"Fine!" She folded her arms awkwardly over her chest, "I met Marc on the first day of Kindergarten. I was extremely shy, and he was the only kid willing to befriend me. We were inseparable on the playground. All through Elementary, and Junior High."

"I didn't expect that."

"He was there for me when my father died, and when I...got sick."

"So he knew all about..."

"Yes, he knows everything." She sighed, and turned back to the window, "We started dating in our Junior year of high school. We broke up after graduation because he was going off to Harvard. Then when he returned, we stared again. He asked me to marry him a few years later. Three days before our wedding, I found out about his other woman, and the child they were expecting."

"How did you find out?"

"His phone. It was usually attached to his hip, but he stayed over one night, and left it in the bedroom while he showered. It started going off, and I picked it up to silence it. A text message popped up from someone named Angel, and it said something to the effect of 'I need you now'."
