"I still can't believe he left."

Taylor glanced over at Angelina, "What do you mean?"

"Alex. He just took off. Doesn't it bother you?"

Taylor shrugged, "Not really. I know it's important to him to be there when this new facility opens."

"I don't get why he couldn't tell you where he was going. Why is a medical facility secret?"

Taylor shook her head, "I have no idea." She rested her hand on Mason's back as he laid sleeping against her chest. In front of their lounge chairs on the deck of the beach resort, more than three dozen children ran and played in the sand.

Angelina rubbed her rounding belly, and sighed, "Well, I guess if it doesn't bother you..."

"It really doesn't, Ang. He explained the circumstances to me, and he assigned temporary custody of the children, legally, to me. It has to be very important to him to do that."

"True, he does love those kids."

As Taylor watched the kids play, her mind turned to her future. Something she had through about a lot lately. Would it be possible she could have her own child? Truly? She hadn't told Alex the whole truth about her visit to the doctor. She had told him the doctor said there was a small chance, but in reality, the doctor had no faith in the nearly twenty year old eggs being usable.

"You're distracted," Angelina waved a hand in front of Taylor's face, "what's got to you?"

Taylor shook her head, "Nothing. Just got a lot to think about."

"I'm sorry." Angelina sighed, "I overstepped. I shouldn't have dug into your past..."

"No, Ang," Taylor reached over to squeeze her hand, "It's okay. I'm not mad. I never thought about it before. I thought all hope was lost."

"I'm surprised you haven't just gotten donor embryos, and conceived before."

Taylor looked away, and smiled towards the kids, "These kids are having a blast."

Angelina looked startled, and followed Taylor's gaze, "I agree. This was a good idea. This whole week has been amazing for these kids. They will have this to hold onto when things aren't quite so good."

Taylor's gaze landed on a boy and a girl building a sand castle far away from the others. "So as I understand it, Michael and Marissa are twins. Their the ten-year-old's, right?"

"Right." Angelina glanced towards the two, "They lost their parents in a car accident."

"There's no extended family?"

"No one that's willing to take them in. It's pathetic really. Jennifer said she talked to the mothers sister, who flat out refused to take either of them." Angelina shook her head, and pulled her jacket closed. "I tried talking to the woman myself, but that didn't do much. She doesn't want the kids. She has one of her own, and she said that's enough."

"They're her family. Doesn't that mean anything to her?"

"Apparently not. The father had three brothers, who are all married with kids. None of them are willing to take them."

"That just doesn't make sense to me. Do they have behavioral problems? Do they cause problems?"

"According to Jennifer, they are polite little angels. They never cause problems, but then, they don't interact with the other children. They keep to themselves." Angelina glanced over at her, "Be careful, Tay, you can't let yourself get too involved, or it will really be difficult to help them because you'll be worrying about them."
