Kapitel Sechsundzwanzig

Chapter 26...

I woke up to the feeling of heat on my face. The sun rays were directly on my face and I had to shield my eyes from the light, I tried to get off the bed and I felt an arm on my back, I turned to look at Jade who was still sound asleep. We both forgot to keep watch for the night.

I remembered what happened last night, something I haven't had in a long time, something I haven't had from a girl until yesterday. I stared at her a little bit longer, she looked good even while she's sleeping. A few parts of her long dark hair going across her face. The rest of her hair wasn't neat as well, but she still looks good nonetheless.

I slipped out of bed and my heart jumped to when I saw myself in the mirror, my hair was the definition of the I-just-had-sex-so-don't-fuck-with-me look. I tried to fix it but it was as stubborn as its owner. I walked into the bathroom and turned the faucet of the shower, only a few drops came out.

"Great now how the fuck am I supposed to fix this", I mumble to myself, referring to my hair.

I tried the sink tap and it worked, I fist pumped and grinned at my reflection. I found a bowl and put it under the tap, and started having my bath. This is going to be the slowest, most annoying bath I've ever had.

When I was done, I got out and saw Jade sitting on the bed with a blanket covering the parts that shouldn't normally be seen, she had a small smile on her face, I smiled back at her and walked to where I left my clothes last night.

"Your turn", I started, "the shower's not working but the sink tap is", I inform her.

"Sure", she stood up from the bed, looking sexy and very very naked. I smirked at her and she blushed.

"Wow, I never thought I'd see you blush in this life time", I chuckle.

"There are a lot of things you thought you'd never see on me in this life time", I looked at her and she winked. She walked towards me and planted a kiss on my lips, "our little secret?", she asked.

I didn't really mind if she wanted to keep it a secret or not, "depends on you".

"Ok then", she walked into the bathroom.

"Wait so is it a secret or not?", I call after her.

She giggled and shut the door. "Then if i end up blurting it out, it's my fault", I mumble to myself. "Great".

<^><^> 3 days after...

"How are we gonna find the others?", Jade asked.

"Not quite sure", I squatted to examine a pebble that had fresh blood on it, then I looked up and saw the trail or blood, "but I'm pretty sure if we follow this we might find them".

"That could be anything", she rested her back on a tree and dropped her gun, supporting it with the tree, "an animal, another person".

"Well my gut says we should follow it"

"Your gut has put us in a lot of horrible situations darling"

"I don't seem to remember when it has ever done that", I feign innocence,  followed by a smirk.

"Don't even get me started Cami", she chuckled. "Let's just check it out, if it's trouble, we leave, if it's not trouble, we make it trouble... then we leave", I smile at myself.

She picked up her gun and we both followed the blood trail, we were walking on the bank of Lake Tahoe, we came all the way back here for the sake of searching for the others, but imagine they're also searching for us, then we keep going in circles and circles until fate finally brings us together after 5 years.

We followed the trail to a cabin out in the clearance. I put my guard up as I stalked the wooden structure. Then a bullet hit the dirt in front of my feet, and a rope knotted itself and a few seconds later a wooden spear fell from the tree above me stabbing the ground where my head would've been.

I looked up at where the bullet came from and I saw silver hair, "you're welcome!", she yelled.

We walked round the traps until we got into the cabin. "Thanks", was all I said then she hugged me.

"So good to see you when you're you", I couldn't see her face but I could tell she was grinning like the hatter, just less creepier, and more cuter.

"I'm sorry I hurt you", I put my hands in my back pocket to block Jade's view. I could feel her smirking but I disregarded it.

"Where's Alli?", I noticed there was nobody here but Kelly "and Kaden and Robyn".

"Everyone's in the basement", she pointed to the only metal door in the room, "I'm on watch"

"How did you guys even get to Lake Tahoe?", Jade asked, something I was planning on asking too, sooner or later.

"The Antercid chased us in this direction, Mason helped us, he also helped you guys", she said.

I scrunched my face, "Who?"

"We got outta there by ourselves, no one helped us", Jade said.

"Oh... So you guys were the ones that blew up all the Antercid heads?"

We both went silent. "I thought as much", her lips twitched at the side.

"So where's this Mason now?", I asked, wanting to see what he looks like.

"Why?", she wriggled her eyebrows, "tits aren't pointing towards Robyn anymore?"

I laughed wryly, "oh sweetie, they never were", I deadpanned.

She blinked a couple times. After recovering from the shock, she didn't bother pressing that topic and I appreciated that. "So who's the lucky new mister going to be?"

I heard Jade clear her throat, then Kelly's eyes darted towards her and then towards me again. I started whistling to release the tension that was clogging up inside my stomach.

"O... M... G... This is fucking unbelievable", she ran her hands through her silver strands, "how many times?", she asked, amusement written all over her face.

"Twice since we separated", Jade answered.

"You guys already fucked twice and Robyn hasn't even got a quarter of a quarter of a chance", she laughed.

"Yup", Jade answered.

I wasn't going to say shit because shit always comes back to bite you in the butt. So my mouth is zipped shut, well I would've told Kelly if I was Jade and that's about it.

"Don't tell anybody else", Jade made Kelly swear some Ancient Greek bullshit that I didn't care to listen to.

"So where's this Mason guy?", I brought back the earlier topic.

"Oh he's dead", she said it like its a very normal thing. It is a normal thing in the post-apocalyptic world but she said it without a care in the world.

"How?", Jade urged her.

"I put a bullet in his head", she shrugged, "he was turning and I'm not about that life".

"Damn"
