"Do you think that was the right thing to do?" Timony voices his opinion aloud.
I flip my gaze over at him and meet his stormy gray eyes. I hear a snort on the other side of me come from Jerome. "Of course that wasn't the right thing to do. But what were we gonna do? The nerdy chick was going to flat out reject us." He roughly slides a hand over his short red hair.
I speak up. "Jerome's right. She was never going to agree to it."
"So you rough handle her, Tobias? What happened to your morals?" Timony slings at me. "We might be better off finding some other girl to fill the role."
I glare at him. "Well, you go find someone and then get back to me when you do." I lay back on the table. We are in my music studio discussing what we're going to do next.
Recently, our female lead backed out on us. We had been together as a group for three years, struggling to make it to the top. She was constantly encouraging us to do better. We would someday make it. She'd always thought that. Or, at least we thought she did. She had us fooled.
"We've already spent too much time looking for a replacement," Jerome points out. "While I don't agree with Tobias's methods, we do not have anymore time left. It's either the nerdy chick or nobody."
I think back to the karaoke place today. It was a stroke of luck that had us walking by at the exact time she was in that karaoke room. Her door hadn't been latched properly. I had stopped in the middle of the hallway and Jerome and Timony ran into me.
"What the-!" I had cut Jerome off with a swish of my hand and listened to the most passionate voice I have ever heard singing a number I haven't heard in quite awhile. Sounded spot on though. My skin got chills and I knew right then.
I had glanced back at the guys and they met my eyes with their own wide eyes. I push the door open expecting to see a die hard music fan but instead my eyes land on someone from our school. Someone familiar. Miss Student Council President.
Her blond hair in that tight bun had started to become unraveled. Her petite body all relaxed. Her mouth opening up to let out the most passionate strains of music loose upon the world. I laugh to myself recalling her expression when she saw that I was standing there. She hadn't expected an audience, nor wanted one. Her green eyes filled with horror but the damage was already done. So she wanted to flee.
But then you went and forced her to become a band member. Talk about first impressions, I snort. She was so against becoming a band member and a stab in the dark by me gave me the power to hold something over her. For some reason, she's got it in her mind that her reputation is at stake. Sure, a lot of the teachers get annoyed at me and my fellow band members but we're decent people overall. Straight A's, barely any tardies, not into drugs. They should be dang proud of us. We're following our dreams.
I feel a bit guilty about how I treated her but I won't let Delightful Hope crash and burn before it has even reached the top. Hopefully not even then.
"Well, there's nothing we can do about it now," I state. "We'll just have to
appeal to her music side."
Jerome snorts. "If she's willing to hang around that long."
I meet his doubt with confidence. "Oh, she will. She definitely will."
Hello again! So how was chapter 2? Tobias sure seems like he will do anything to get his way. How far will he go to make sure that Delightful Hope doesn't get left in the dust, I wonder? And will his friends stop him before he reaches the edge or will they idly standby and watch his descent? Read on to find out more! Next up Chapter 3: Cassidy
