Two weeks later, I finally get a break. After that weekend, my mother had found out about my singing career. She made mention on it and I expected a fight but only sadness and longing filled her voice. The same sadness she used only when talking about my real dad. She loves my step dad to death but my biological dad will always hold a special place in her heart.
Two days after that, we got a letter saying that we placed first in the competition. Crushed had placed third. Soon, we were getting letters from agents wanting tours and demos from us.
A week after that, Tobias's love song to me, 'Distorted View', placed second on the statewide ratings while 'Show Me' placed in the top ten songs nationwide. We partied over that one for sure.
Maydean and Timony ended up as a couple, though I worry that since Timony is not over his feelings for Talia it'll only end in sadness. I'm happy for them regardless, though.
Today, I took Tobias to my dad's grave. After dad had divorced my mom, he had went on a tour for his music. Ended up getting hit by a drunk driver and that was the end. Tobias was shocked at first to learn that Casey Codwell, the greatest singer of this century was my dad.
"It's funny how things work out," Tobias tells me. "Casey was the one who got me into music to begin with."
He told me about meeting Casey when he was younger and Casey had inspired him to become a singer.
Each day, Tobias and I fall more and more in love. I decided to join the band full time, juggling it as well as my job as Student Council President. The school frowns on it but as long as I keep my grades up and the Student Council on task they don't say anything.
The day after the competition, I went to the salon and had my hair cut into a short a-line bob. No more buns for me. Tobias especially loved it though he confided in me that he sometimes missed the bun.
Each day, I grow happier and happier with my new way of living. I don't let things, or people, hold me back anymore, and I definitely don't make excuses why not to do something I love as a career. I don't want to live my life any other way. I want to become a professional singer. It may not be the easy road but it's my road. My path. To happiness. With Tobias.
This is the true beginning of my happy ever after.
