Cassidy shows up a couple minutes early. I can see the nervousness radiating off of her but don't know anyways to calm it so, for once, I step back and let Timony's and Jerome's playful banter fill the awkwardness. The normalcy of it relaxes her little by little, and for that I am thankful.
"My sister is waiting for you in the back room," Jerome informs her and she turns a bit pale before nodding. She struts out of the room and back where Talia is waiting.
Timony makes sure she can't hear when he says, "She looks like a bundle of nervousness. You sure she'll be all right, Tobias?" He looks to me and I can't help but be honest.
"I honestly don't know." Timony starts to say something but I cut him off. "But we've got to let her at least try. She'd be hurt if we suggested otherwise, whether she realizes this or not. We know she's good enough but she has to learn she's good enough. If she doesn't, she'll always have doubts."
That answer seems to satisfy Timony and evidently Jerome because I find them both nodding in agreement with me. I chuckle to myself. Before Cassidy, we'd rarely, if ever, all agree on something.
They must've had the same thought because soon we're all smiling like idiots.
"When are you gonna show her the headset?" Jerome asks.
I contemplate before answering. "I'll probably just hand them to her onstage and let her be surprised, kind of thing."
And like that, our agreeing stage has past.
"No, you better not!" Timony wags a finger at me. "She will have a lot of 'surprises' to deal with already. You tell her before we leave here or I will." He glares at me in challenge.
"You do that and you don't get one," I snap, childishly. "You can play in the dark for all I care."
Timony sticks out his lower lip in a pout and I smirk. Jerome shakes his head.
Our heads swivel to the doorway as we hear Talia stomp down the hall with Cassidy in tow.
Our jaws drop open.
"Nerdy chick you look..." Jerome starts.
"Hot!" Timony interjects. "I mean, whoa! Who would've thought!"
I lose all train of thought and just stare. Her beautiful blond hair is in two messy buns instead of the spick-n-span bun she always wears. Her eyes pop out because of the make up. She's also got in contacts which makes her face seem a tad slimmer. Her normal school uniform is replaced by an outfit that hugs her curves. I'd have to be blind not to notice her, I find myself thinking.
"Dude, say something!" Timony shoves me while Jerome raps his knuckles on my head but none of it can take my attention away from the gorgeous beauty in front of me.
I open my mouth to say something, anything but no words can express my thoughts. Can portray her sweet yet rocker chick look. She contains a giggle before locking eyes with me and we have a moment. That is until Talia interrupts.
"Aww! Tobias! You're making her blush!" Talia says and then informs me. "Now fork over what you owe me." She holds out her hand.
Wanting to grumble but stifling it, I pull out a fifty from my wallet and hand it to her. Talia raises her eye brows. Twice the amount agreed upon? I nod and she snatches the cash and hugs Cassidy on her way out.
I glance back at Cassidy and notice that her eyes are on the ground. She feels awkward, I think but for the life of me, I can't make her feel more comfortable. It's just not my area of expertise. I glance at Timony and Jerome in hopes that they would dissolve in playful banter again but Cassidy herself ends the awkward by saying a few magical words.
