Add hadn't actually felt sorry for what he did. He only said it to try and calm (y/n) down which only seemed to make things worse. She seemed pretty angry and Add of course knew why. He still remembered all of the conversations that they'd had about her past and how she never wanted to be used again and yet the whole time, that was all that was going on.

"Alrighty (y/n). You might want a snack because we're going to be here for a while, nya," Mitsu said. Add didn't plan on standing the entire time so he sat on his dynamos. He glanced over at (y/n) who was still in her barrier. She seemed...lost.

Her gaze focused on one spot on the floor and they seemed to be looking at something beyond the floor. He'd never seen her act that way in all the years that she was with him, not even in her shut down modes.

"When I first appeared to you, it was because I wanted to help you, nya. At the time, I wasn't worried about you finding out the truth about me. You see, my sister Mari may be darkness but she has more light in her than I do which means that although I am light, I have more darkness in me, nya."

"Back at the temple, I became jealous of how much the people liked Mari than me so I tricked a few humans into desecrating her side of the temple which led her to hating humans. She began to show more of her dark side and people stopped coming to the temple because she often killed anyone who came inside, nya."

"Then one day, she was asleep because yes, we entities have to sleep. You just happened to show up during that time and I saw that as an opportunity to do something evil. I stole my sister's power and I took my own and gave it to you, nya. By joining you, I would be able to go away from the temple and do whatever bad things that I wanted but if you were to die, I would die also. That's why when the power of your light grew to overpower your darkness, I made it my mission to keep you alive."

"Then you came here, nya. You had balanced yourself out by hurting all of those people in that lab so I was able to leave your body whenever I wanted to but I had to let you know of my presence. I told you that I didn't have a physical form when at the time I did. You eventually figured out how to make me appear to you in this way you see me now, nya."

"After that, I decided to help you because I am still light but I still did bad things whenever you didn't have me summoned in front of you. I didn't want you to read any of the books about your home village because it might have mentioned how to get rid of me because I am not actually attached to your consciousness. If I die, you live but if you die, we both die, nya."

"And if I were to somehow leave your consciousness even for a few minutes, you will always be completely balanced but you would never remember anything that happened once the day is over."

"If Mari and I both were to die, then you would permanently be the entity of balance. You can lose your power if one of us takes it from you which is what Mari wants to do along with killing both of us in the process. I don't want to die so I've been leaving you in your sleep and keeping this information away from you, nya. So that's it. Nya, I'm done," Mitsu explained.

That cat sure could talk a lot. Nobody moved and silence became another barrier in the room as Add and Mitsu both focused their attention on (y/n) who was still in a sort of daze. Tears silently fell down her face, and she stayed huddled into herself with her arms wrapped around her knees. After a while, she broke her barrier but still didn't move.

Add got up and grabbed a blanket from his chair and draped it over her shoulders before heading out. He saw her flinch, but she otherwise stayed still. Mitsu followed him out of the lab which Add didn't mind.

"Nya! Leaving her in there alone with your research probably wasn't a good idea," Mitsu said. Add ignored her statement.

"The books that you hid. Where are they?" he asked her. He was suddenly determined to learn more about her, but for once it had nothing to do with studying her.

"Find them yourself. I still don't trust you," Mitsu said. The cat was really starting to become annoying, but fortunately for Mitsu, Add had a soft spot for cats. He didn't entirely mind her endless ranting until she said something that, for some unknown reason, got to him and he snapped.

"(Y/n) sure is dull too. I can't believe she never figured you out either! Nya, she did this to herself. She's the reason she's suffering, all because she trusted you. Nya, so funny!" Mitsu was saying. Add stopped in his tracks and glared at the cat.

"(Y/n) isn't dull! She's smart, smarter than most people in this world. It isn't her fault that I lied to her. It wasn't her fault, it was mine! I did this to her! She's broken because of me!" he shouted at the cat who's fur was now sticking in every direction.

"Nya? Interesting...you seem to have taken a liking to (y/n). Could it be that you actually care about her even in the slightest bit?" Mitsu said with the intentions of taunting him. Add did not answer her. He didn't know what to say even if he did want to answer Mitsu.

"Go back to (y/n). She probably needs you or something," Add said as he began to leave Mitsu behind using his dynamos. He needed some fresh air so he went outside of the library to look at the night sky. He never intended to think of (y/n) as anything more than just another experiment, but now that was impossible.

No matter how much he tried to push her away without her knowing, she managed to get close to him again. They'd become friends and now Add felt bad about what he'd been doing. For one of the very few times in his life, he felt deeply regretful, and he did not like that feeling at all.
