Keeping Him Sane (An Add x Reader Story)

Chapter 27

I am so sorry about the late update. I have a good excuse but writers with schedules should never have excuses so just blame me. Here's the chapter that I should habe already done days ago.

        Add knew for a fact that something was wrong when (y/n) came flying towards him, looking far more terrified than she'd ever been. Then he saw a shadow on the ground going after her that he guessed was Mitsu. It didn't take long for him to figure out exactly what was going on. The cat had cleary turned on her.

        Add was already short on energy, but if it meant keeping (y/n) safe and himself sane, he would use every bit of energy he had left. (Y/n) landed near him, almost falling on her face. "Mitsu's trying to kill me!" she said as she turned towards the approaching shadow. Add noticed that she didn't summon a weapon to fight Mitsu back. The cat lady came to a stop in front of the two of them, with a glare aimed at (y/n) that could rival his own.

        "Add stay out of this. You can be on your way. I've planned this for far too long, and I won't let you mess it up. If you insist on ruining things, I'll have no choice but to end your life as well," Mitsu said, her voice low and threatening.

        "What makes you think I'd come all this way to let you kill the only person that I care about?" Add snapped as his dynamos circled him, ready to attack when used.

        "Mitsu why are you doing this?! If you didn't want your sister dead, you should have told me! I would have listened to you!" (y/n) shouted at Mitsu. Add could hear the frustration, fear, and confusion that (y/n)'s voice held. He was surprised that she was entirely unphased by the fact that he'd actually admitted to caring about her even if it wasn't the time for it. Yes, his actions already told her that, but it was the first time he'd said that he cared.

        "Well, I didn't care that my sister was dead really. I cared about her to the end, yes, but I still wanted her dead. You were just doing me a favor by killing her...or at least I thought. As soon as she died, her memories were transferred to me in just a split second of time. I felt her pain, the pain that I caused her. Now I realize why she wanted us both dead. To avenge her, I'm going to kill you, find a new host, and kill myself so that I won't be the entity of balance. It's the least I can do for a sister that I always manipulated," Mitsu said.

        Her voice was filled with regret and sadness. In all honesty, Add thought that what she said had made no sense at all. She had gone crazy no doubt, but perhaps there was a little bit of truth to what she said. Well, not the killing part. That was just downright stupidity.

        "What's that going to solve?! Yes, you may have done whatever it was that you did, but why kill me? We've known each other for years and we've saved each other's lives so many times! Don't you remember all of the times that we've shared together? Why, Mitsu? What makes you think that I deserve to die because of your mistakes? I know I have my own set of mistakes, but that doesn't give you the right to punish me for yours" (y/n) said.

        "Shut up! I choose what I want to do to make up for what I've done!" Mitsu shouted and threw a knife straight at (y/n)'s face. (Y/n) was stunned by the sudden attack, and she would have gotten hit if Add hadn't pulled her out of the way.

        "Pull yourself together. Mitsu may have been your friend once but she's trying to kill you now. Treat her as you would any other threat," Add snapped. He let (y/n) go and she summoned her weapon. The double sided spear turned silver along with (y/n)'s hair and eyes. She summoned her wings and faced Mitsu.

        "You're right. She was my friend...and she still is. I just have to remind her of that," (y/n) said. One thing was for sure, (y/n) still didn't register danger very well but that meant that she would never give up easily.

        "Come and face your death, you coward!" Mitsu hissed. She held her knives in a way that made them seem like claws. Add couldn't be sure of Mitsu's chances of winning. He'd never actually faught her himself since she always appeared to him in her cat form. He only ever had to use treats or the occasional catnip, and Mitsu would simply admit defeat from the bribe.

        "Be careful. I won't forgive you if you manage to get yourself killed," Add said to her.

        "Don't worry about me. Just back up though. In the case that I might actually have to hurt her, this might get ugly," (y/n) said, keeping her eyes glued on Mitsu all the while.

     "Are you worrying about my safety? I can take care of you better than you take care of yourself so there's no need for that," Add said as he followed her orders.

        "Yes. I am worried. Mitsu knows that I'd risk anything to keep you from getting hurt. It's an urge that I can't stop, so please don't die," (y/n) said in reply. She began to slowly make her way towards Mitsu with her weapon positioned in a near perfect attack stance.

        "If only she realized what I already know," Add thought to himself as he kept his gaze on her, a sad look in his eyes. He hoped that she wouldn't find out just yet because he didn't think she would take the news very well. The two girls stared at each other and watched the other's every move. It was Mitsu that attacked first marking the start of their battle.

I have to catch up on these past few missed days. I think there will only be a few more chapters after this one. I'm warning you all now so that you won't attack me later. (Please don't hurt me!!) Anyways, until next time readers and I won't wait forever to update this time!
