Keeping Him Sane (An Add x Reader Story)

Chapter 20

        "What are you crying about? I told you it would take more than some entity of darkness to kill me," Add said weakly. He felt his strength returning to him, but it was slow. (Y/n) suddey jolted away from him and stared in awe. "That actually hurt. A lot," he said.

        Add, with the help of his dynamos, helped himself sit up so that he was now looking right at (y/n). Her wings were silver as well as her hair and eyes. Add had only seen that form when she had been beyond rage that one day so he didn't understand why she was all silver now. Before he could say anything about it though, (y/n) hugged him tightly, not caring whether she hurt him or not. She was still crying too.

        "(Y/n)? Where could you be hiding huh? Come out and play, unless your too scared. Or perhaps you're still to sad. I believe I did kill someone important to you right? Did you lose willpower? Oh how badly I want to see the sorrowful look on your face," Mari voice echoed down the library.

        With this (y/n) instantly stopped crying and instead began glowing an even brighter silver. She let him go and stood up with a completely neutral expression on her face. The only thing that signaled emotion was the burning rage in her eyes.

        "Mari...time to die," she said without showing the rage that her eyes held. Add wasn't used to her silver form which he had tried often to prevent. Seeing her so completely lost to anger wasn't something he was okay with.

        "(Y/n)?" Add whispered but she didn't seem to hear him as she turned away from him and began to walk to the edge of the seventh floor. With a flash, (y/n) was gone, leaving behind a streak of silver dust of sorts.

        Add could only listen for any sounds of battle as he wished for his recovery to quicken its pace. He didn't want (y/n) to fight Mari on her own because he could already tell that Mari was able to say just the right thing to get on (y/n)'s nerves. Keeping a clear mind during a fight was something that was nearly impossible when fighting Mari.

        He heard someone scream, but he couldn't tell who's scream it was. Add then felt the same familiar feeling that he hadn't understood before. When (y/n) had come back to the library wounded, he'd overreacted thinking that she had the chance of dying and he refused to risk that. Now he felt the same way and was determined to get to her before he felt anymore guilt of any kind. Lucky for him, the heal symbols that (y/n) created would follow him wherever he went so he used his dynamos to take him back outside of the library.

        Once there, he could see the battle raging in front of him. Mari had several gashes and (y/n) stood her ground with several cuts of her own to prove it. Mari spotted him as soon as (y/n) did.

        Add wasn't afraid of either of them, but he had a feeling he just made things worse. Mari of course just had to take aim at him but Add wasn't some random helpless bystander. He wasn't weak even when we wasn't strong.

        Fortunately for him, (y/n) zoomed up to Mari, noticing that the dog was distracted, and attacked with the double sided scythe that she was currently using. Mari noticed a bit too late and was able to get away but not without another gash to add to the number that she already. This didn't keep (y/n) from stopping her attack though. She kept the scythe spinning around her and continuously attacked Mari.

        Add was actually kind of proud to see her fight so ferociously since he had been the one to teach her self defense in the first place. Mari, however, had another plan. She changed into her dog form in a flash and tried to bite (y/n). She was too slow compared to (y/n)'s speed that was now enhanced due to her powered up state.

        Mari shot out a wave of energy that sent (y/n) flying backwards. Add faught the urge to go to her and kept himself watchong as she caught herself and got into a fighting stance. Mari switched back to human form and started glowing.

        "I will not allow you to ruin my plans! You and Mitsu will die! You have no idea how many lives I had to steal to get this powerful?!" Mari shouted angrily. (Y/n) stood and just stared at Mari.

        "Lives? You had to take lives to get power? But you..." she said in disbelief.

        "What do you not understand about you have my power? Mitsu stole it from me and gave it to you! How do you think Mitsu gets her power? She didn't just give you my power she gave you her power as well. Mitsu can just simply steal it back from you, but I had to drain the lives of the things around me. Now you and Mitsu will finally die!" Mari yelled. (Y/n) suddenly powered down completely and her weapon disappeared.

        "(Y/n)? What are you doing?!" Add shouted as she began to walk towards Mari. He started to use his dynamos to go and stop her but he found himself unable to move. A simple "stop" that was uttered by (y/n) was enough to do this.

        He was stuck in place and all he could do was watch as (y/n) walked unarmed right up to Mari who was most definitely ready to kill her. Add wanted to stop her. He wanted to call out her name but he couldn't. All he could do was watch as Mari charged forward with a knife ready to stab (y/n) wherever it landed.

        Just before Mari was close enough to do damage, she was suddenly frozen in place. The single word "stop" was uttered once again and Add still watched as (y/n) walked right up to Mari and hugged her.
