The anger and the darkness that Echo felt when she was with Sebastian had gone completely when she was back in her room at the institute. Each time she was in her room, she would get flashes of memories that Azazel had given her. The look on the Prince's face when he realized that his plan had worked. The feeling of his hands on Echo's skin. Echo gave a shiver to try to rid herself of the feelings. She was so consumed in her memories that she hadn't heard her door open until she heard his voice.
"Echo?"
The Shadowdemon flinched slightly before she turned to Alec, "Yeah?"
Alec slowly closed the door behind him, "Can we talk?"
Echo knew that she couldn't avoid her Husband any longer, "Yeah."
Alec pulled in a breath at the slight awkwardness, "How—How are you feeling?"
Echo bit her lip, "I'm—I could be better."
The moment of silence didn't last long. Alec had taken a step forward with a soft voice that said, "Look, about the baby..."
But it was the same moment that Echo had said, "It's not yours."
Alec paused his words and looked up at Echo with shock, "What?"
Echo was nervous, but she also knew that she needed to tell Alec the truth, "The baby isn't yours."
Alec furrowed his brows, "What do you mean?"
Echo swallowed, "Azazel tricked us. He staged the whole night. The baby isn't yours. It's Azazel's."
Echo could tell that Alec was confused, "I don't understand. Did you get your memories back?"
Echo let out a breath, "I figured it out, but yes, Azazel gave me the memories back." Echo couldn't hide the sadness any longer. Her eyes turned down and she felt guilt.
Alec saw the change in his wife and shook his head. "We'll figure this out, okay?"
Echo shook her head, "There isn't anything to figure out! This baby is growing faster than normal and it's a Hell baby. Who knows what will happen when she is born, or even when she is born."
Alec wasn't phased by Echo's tone, he was more focused on the words, "She?"
Echo tilted her head, "What?"
"You said it was a She."
Echo let her shoulders drop, "Azazel called her a Princess."
Alec honestly didn't know what to say but his thoughts were going a million miles a minute, "I—I'll help you, in any way I can. I'll help raise her as my own."
Echo suddenly felt that she wanted to cry, but she kept the tears in, "I can't ask you to do that, Alec."
Alec took a step forward and placed his hands on Echo's shoulders, "Nobody has to know. As far as they are concerned, the baby is mine. And don't tell me that I don't have to do this because I want to. I love you, Echo, okay? And I will love this baby."
Echo bit her lip to keep the tears in her eyes, but the saltwater had an agenda of its own. Alec wiped away the tears, "I'm here for you, okay? Until death do us part."
Echo let out a tearful chuckle, "I've already done that."
Alec let out a breath through his nose with a small smile, "Yeah, I'd rather not have that happen again."
Echo's small smile faded, "Echoette told me something about the baby."
Alec dropped his hands from Echo, "Something bad?"
