I woke up on the cement track with my head banging. It felt like a thousand knives were going through my skull at once. Slowly, I began to lift my head off of the cement until I heard something snap, causing me to wince in pain and drop my head back onto the cement, ending up causing even more pain. I began to feel around at the back of my head, feeling the dry blood that had accumulated in my hair during my unconsciousness. Soon, however, all I could think of was the blood that might be running down Buffy's arm. I couldn't stand the thought.
I raised my body, limping towards the gates that lead to the outside of the track. Putting one hand on the handle, I pulled on the rusty handle.
"Shit, it's locked." I thought to myself as I continued to shake the gate, trying to get it to budge.
Well, it looks like their only one way out of this. Mustering all of my strength, I lifted myself up onto the top of the fence so that my feet were dangling off of the other side.
Closing my eyes, I jumped off the fence onto the sidewalk on the other side. Well, let's just say that was not the best of ideas. To my luck, I fell directly into a puddle, causing me to slip and fall again.
My body arched as I winced in pain on the concrete sidewalk. Apparently, I winced pretty loudly. At least loudly enough for a special someone to hear.
"Cy, are you alright, What happened?"Jonah asked, obviously concerned, while picking me up.
"Oh, it's ah, it's" I started, not sure whether or not to tell him about Buffy. "It's nothing, Jonah."
"Are you sure Cy, it doesn't look like nothing?" He started "You need to go to the hospital, look your all bruised up"
"No, I-I n-n-need to go to Buffy's h-house." I said nervously.
"Cyrus, you need to go to the hospital, Buffy can wait."
"Jonah, it's important. Please, I have to get to Buffy's house." I pleaded
Jonah gave in, letting out a sigh, saying "Alright, but I'm going to have to walk you there."
He put one hand under my arm and started to walk slowly, leading me to Buffy's house. We didn't talk much, but every so often he would say "I still think you should go to the hospital, to which I responded by rolling my eyes, causing him to giggle.
Eventually, we reached Buffy's house, but Jonah still wouldn't let me go.
"Jonah, I-I th-think that it would be b-best if I go in alone."
"Alright, but your sure that you'll be ok, right Cy."
After telling him yes for about a million, times, he finally left, but he kept on turning around to make sure I was fine.
Once Jonah was gone, I knocked on the door, gently at first, but louder when no one seemed to be answering. I tried the handle and low and behold, it was locked. Why did everything have to be locked?
With my heart beating fast and adrenaline pumping through my veins, I picked it up a rock and threw it against the window. Well, let's just say that the rock didn't make it to the window, but hey, at least I didn't miss. Anyways, I tried again and no luck. On about the tenth try, the window shattered, well shattered enough to let me kick it open.
As soon as I was in Buffy's house, I ran up the stairs to Buffy's room, bursting open the door, heading into her Bathroom, where I found her with Blood running down her left arm and a razor blade in her right.
"Cyrus, leave me alone" Buffy said in a hushed voice.
I took off my sweater and began to wrap it tightly around Buffy's arm while saying "No can do Buffy."
"Why are you helping me, after what I did at the Track."
"Buffy, were Best Friends, and Best Friends help each other out. And I know you'd do the same for me too." I started in a hushed voice while continuing to wrap my sweater around Buffy's arm. "Now do you want to tell me what's been going on with you or am I going to have to get it out of you?"
"It's nothing." Buffy whispered.
"Do you really expect me to believe that you were cutting your arm open over nothing." I said sternly, tying the sweater around her hand and folding my arms.
With that, Buffy backed up against the wall and slid down it, sobbing with her face in her hands. Buffy was broken.
"Cyrus, You don't know what it's like to not know whether your parents are dead or alive. I haven't seen my mom for 3 years." She said, choking on tears.
"Buffy, your mom loves you. What would she do if she found you dead on the bathroom floor, what would four friends do, what y=would your family do, what would Marty do, what would Andi do... What would I do" I said as a tear began to run down my cheek as well.
With that Buffy pulled me into a hug, both of us crying.
After the hug, which seemed to last forever, Buffy gave me a sweatshirt to were. We were laying on her bead when Buffy began to speak again.
"Cyrus, you realy need to stop getting high though. Weed is still bad for you." She scoleded. Yep, Buffy was back to normal I thought to myself.
"Deal, but only if you stop cutting." I said in return.
We shook hands and everything seemed to return to normal.
