Since the second grade. Since the second grade I knew this person, and to think that her fingers would ever be capable of pulling a trigger. My mind was overcome with rage, but my heart was adamant in believing the capability of her attempting to take a life.
"Are you sure their's not a mistake." I asked in shock.
"That's what it says on the sticky note." He responded, passing me the note and leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
The room was blanketed by silence, with the only noise coming from the heart rate monitor beeping in the background.
"So, how are you feeling." Buffy asked me, trying to rid the silence, inadvertently turning the silence into awkwardness.
"Besides the whole getting shot thing, I think I'm feeling just fine." I answered sarcasticly.
"Just wait until you get better and see what's gonna happen if you keep up that attitude." Buffy replied sassily.
To anybody else, it would have seemed like a normal conversation, well, not including Andi's quietness, but to us it felt as if there was an elphent in the room that nobody was trying to tackle. I guess that sometimes it's best to just go around the elephant rather than through it.
After what seemed like a while of awkward conversation, Jonah excused himself to go to the bathroom.
"Baby, I gotta go to the bathroom. I'll be back soon." He said, kissing me on the forehead.
"Be back soon." I requested needly
"Promise." Jonah replied before standing up and walking out of the door.
"Baby" Buffy snickered once the door had closed.
"Come back soon." Andi imitated in a high-pitched voice.
"Two can play that game." I said before clearing my throat. "Marty, I bet I can beat you around the track." I continued, imitating Buffy's sassy voice and competitive spirit.
Andi burst out into laughter whilst Buffy pretended to be offended.
"Buffy, that's poor sportsmanship." Andi provoked through laughter.
"Ya, what are you gonna do when Marty beats you around the track." I teased, causing Andi to laugh harder.
This teasing went on for a long time, cycling between me, Buffy, and Andi. Then suddenly I remembered Jonah. He hadn't come back yet. Worridly, I stood up, stumbling a little.
"I have to go to the bathroom guys." I told Andi and Buffy before limping towards the door.
Tunring the handle, I found myself in a long, empty hallway, with the bathroom towards the rear, marked by a black door.
Limping, I eventually made it to the bathroom, where I found Jonah.
His eyes were red with tears as he leaned over a sink with an unopened Henny bottle, shaking lightly in his right hand.
Qickly, I knocked the bottle out of his had, letting it shatter on the floor, covering it in a thin layer of brandy.
"Cyrus, it-it's not what it loo-looks like." Jonah stuttered nervously.
"Oh really, cause what it looks like is that your drinking again. Jonah, you have a baby on the way, your gonna be a father." I scolded.
Jonah's eyes lit up with a familiar anger and ferocity, but I wasn't going to back down this time.
"That baby's not my responsibility. It's not growing in my stomach." He replied coldly.
"It takes two to make a baby dumbass." I started, now yelling at Jonah with all of my anger. "Don't come back unless you step up and realize that your gonna be a father." I said before walking out of the black doors back into the hallway.
"Cy, Cy please come back." I heard Jonah plead. I continued walking away, ignoring him. I might have let myself be taken for granted but I wasn't going to let the same happen to Andi. I wasn't going to let the same happen to Andi or her kids.
