The cold air messaged my skin whilst the moon acted as a light in a sea of nothingness, with no stars to serve as it's backdrop. I took comfort in the black abyss that seemed so close, yet so distant at the same time. It was as if everything I wanted could be found in that abyss, but deep down, I know that that abyss contained nothing but loneliness and despair. Oh, how easily the mind can be fooled.
My mind surfaced from this dive of deep thought when I felt a pair of lips lock into my own. These lips seemed comfortable, familiar, all-be-it a bit chapped.
"Cy, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have-" Jonah started, backing away apologizing for his actions.
I interrupted his apology by locking our lips together once again. I forgot how much I missed the feeling of them. How much I missed him.
"So, I guess that makes us..." Jonah began, signaling for me to finish.
"Why don't we just go back to dating for now." I suggested.
"Fine with me." He said, interlocking his fingers into mine, just like in my dream. I snuggled into his shoulder, missing the support it gave me.
Just then, in the best of moments, I heard a loud bang, followed by the fluttering and squawks of birds as they took flight. The birds, black in sight, blended in with the night sky, but one was just able to make out the blood red specks encircling its eyes.
Looking down, I saw Jonah pushing, with both hands, against my stomach, his hands red and bloodied. Feeling lightheaded, my legs gave out and collapsed as my body numbed. Jonah came down with me, supporting himself on his knees as he continued to push down on my chest. Before my eyes closed, I heard a heavy object crash onto the concrete sidewalk while the sound of footsteps became more distant.
Blood began to spill onto the concrete as Jonah pushed down on my stomach with his bundled up hoodie. Unable to hold my eyes open, they slowly closed until I was unconscious.
Once my eyes shut, I was transported to the black abuse I so desired just a couple minutes before. This abuse felt neither cold nor hot, neither damp nor dry, neither quiet nor loud. Blackness surrounded me from all sides, except for a spherical object that seemed to resemble that of the moon.
Gravitating towards the object, I touched it, causing a searing sensation to radiate throughout my body. Still, a mysterious entaty continued to push me towards the object, persuading me to jump in.
