Ava and I were "studying" at my house.
And by "studying" I meant making out in my bed when we're supposed to be studying for a Geometry test.
"Mmm what time does your mom get home?" She asked pecking my lips.
"7," I answered kissing her lips again.
She was straddled on top of me as my hand rested on her waist.
I continuously kissed her lips until I heard the garage open,
Fuck, my dad!
I grabbed her waist and put her on my bed as I closed my door,
"Shit my dad is home! Uh um— closet!" I yelled.
I heard his footsteps some up the steps as I closed the closet door,
"Oh hey Derek! How was your day buddy?" He asked.
"Pretty good. I just did some studying and relaxing," I answered.
"Well that's good. Where's Delaney?" He asked.
"Probably with Max," I responded.
"Oh okay, where's your girlfriend?" He said.
"I don't have one," I answered.
"Well I mean, you and Ava were a great couple. Besides she's an amazing girl, gets good grades, very athletic, she's very intelligent and she's gorgeous. Maybe it's not a bad idea to rekindle an old flame. She's a great girl," He said.
"You're right. But, I need some time to think," I said.
"Take all the time you need. At the end of the day it's your decision," he said.
"Thanks dad," I smiled.
He smiled back and closed the door.
I waited for a few moments before I locked the door,
Ava came out and hugged me,
"What was that for?" I chuckled.
"I love your family. They are genuinely the most amazing people on Earth," she smiled.
I kissed her nose and led her back onto my bed while holding her hand,
"They love you too but not as much as I do," I said kissing her hand.
We continued our "studying" session until the sun started to go down,
I did plan on asking her out. My dad was completely right. But I wanna ask her out in the most romantic way possible— I'll have her come to the lake but there will be rose petals leading to the center, where I'll be standing with a dozen roses and a sign asking her.
I know it's pretty extra but I'm gonna do it but just not now. Maybe in a few weeks.
"Do you wanna stay for dinner?" I asked.
"Your dad doesn't even know I'm here," she laughed.
"Well you can sneak out through my window and go to the front door," I said in a duh tone.
"Alright, you win," she gave in.
"I'll go ask him just start climbing out," I said.
"Uh dad?" I asked.
"What's up?" He said pouring a glass of juice.
"I thought about what you said, and I wanted to know if it was okay if she came over for dinner tonight?" I said slightly unsure.
"Oh yeah, of course," he smiled.
"Thanks again," I smiled.
"Anytime," He answered.
—
The doorbell rang 10 minutes later as I rushed down the steps,
My whole family was gathered by the door like we were having thanksgiving dinner there.
And they all had these creepy ass smiles and grins plastered to their faces.
"Hey how are you guys?" She asked.
"Pretty good and you?" My mom answered.
"Good and that's good to hear," she responded.
"Well I'm hungry so let's go devour the tasty food your mother bought," my dad joked.
We all sat at the table as we each grabbed a slice of pizza and made small talk,
"I love your shirt, Delaney! Where'd you get it?" Ava asked.
"Aww thank you and Pacsun," she answered.
"How are your parents?" My dad asked.
"They're doing fine, thanks for asking," She answered.
We were all done eating as Ava helped my mom clean up,
"Oh no don't worry about it. You're our guest, Derek will do it," My mom said.
"Huh?" I questioned stuffing my face with whipped cream,
"Derek, where are your manners?" My mom said snatching the can from me.
"I have none," I joked.
—
"Well that went well," she laughed.
"Yeah, but I didn't get to kiss you," I frowned onto the screen.
"Well we already did enough of that for one day," she laughed.
"Well I can never get enough kisses from you," I joked.
"Good night Derek," She laughed.
"Good night," I smiled before hanging up the FaceTime call.
