"you were like my lover and my best friend
all wrapped into one, with a ribbon on it
and all of a sudden, when you left
i didn't know how to follow"

Toronto, Canada.

"So I assume you need help with your things?"

"Oh, yeah. That'd be nice.." Naila replied back to Kaison as he picked up her shopping basket and her items that were scattered across the aisle. This had become incredibly awkward and in all honesty neither of them knew exactly what to say or do now that they were face to face and that Naila was no longer a flight risk.

Handing her back the shopping basket, she gave a faint smile before turning around heading towards the front of the store to pay for her things. She tried to act like this spontaneous meeting in the middle of a Shoppers DrugMart was nothing to her and she just wanted to go home. Where home was to her right now was unclear, especially after learning the news that she basically couldn't go back to the states after being reported missing. She didn't ask him to elaborate too much on that because it was enough information for one day. She felt herself getting sick in the pit of her stomach and was almost ready for her lunch to come back up. These past couple of weeks she's been feeling really abnormal and tried chalking it up to her transition to a new city, but that didn't quite make sense since she's been here nearly three months. Her and Kalil have only had sex once since she's been in his house and if her memory serves her right they used protection. Maybe the stress of being in a theoretical love triangle all over again was just messing with her.

"Oh really, that's what we're doing? You're just gonna turn around and act like ain't shit happen?"

Taking a long sigh, Naila turned to face him and whisper-yelled, "Well just what exactly do you want me to say? I'm fucking scared, Chris! This shit isn't okay! I thought when I left this would be over! It's what I was hoping at least! You popped up out of nowhere at my place of work and you want me to just run back into your arms when I see you? Fuck that shit, you and I both know why you broke up with me right before tour and I wasn't going to bare the brunt of that shit!"

"So what was I to you? A famous nigga you wanted to mooch off of and then when you got the opportunity you jetted? I don't know why I even tried to fix this shit." Immediately after saying that, Kaison boy his tongue and bit it hard because he knew he meant nothing of what he said. He instantly regretted saying shit like that to Naila because he knew very well how fragile she was. He took a long sigh and smoothed his hand over his face before he heard Naila respond.

"Oh really? That's what you've thought of me this whole time, huh? Good to know. Have a good life Chris and stay out of mine."

"Yo what the fuck is with that Chris shit?

"Since you wanted to abandon me and go live the life of the rich and famous with your niggas and foreign bitches that's who you are to me! Chris! That's it! Now will you let me go home?"

"I think you and I both know you owe me an explanation."

"I don't owe you shit, Chris! Let me leave."

"Naila!" he screamed at her as he grabbed her arm and spun her around. Looking into each other's eyes directly for the first time in over three months was bittersweet. Her head was telling her to turn around and run away, hoping to never see him again but her heart was compelled by his big brown eyes, pleading with her to stay and explain. Being face to face with him once again made her feel like she did when they first met. His light grip on her arm nearly melted her and almost immediately she felt her walls crashing down. No one, not even Kalil had the ability to open her up like Kaison did. He didn't even have to say anything but before she knew it they were outside of a small cafe, across from each other preparing to talk. Kaison was waiting for his order to arrive as Naila was looking around awkwardly at the busy Toronto streets. Although the circumstances under which she was here weren't ideal, she fell in love with this city and the people in it. She felt like she belonged here.
