“Nero – I know him because…” Now it was Dante’s turn to take a deep breath before going on: “because he is my brother.” Nero looked at Dante as if he had seen a ghost. “What? No way!” Nero exclaimed. “Believe me, Nero, it is true. I’m gonna help you get Kyrie back. But it’s enough for today. Vergil is extremely powerful and we gotta have a plan before we do anything. So just go to bed kid, you can take the couch.” Dante told him. “But I can’t just be sitting around! We gotta do something now!” “No Nero, it’s too dangerous to just run out in the middle of the night. Vergil must have escaped through some kind of a hellgate and as I know him, he brought a whole demon army. Don’t do something stupid kid!” Nero still was not pleased – he was supposed to just go to sleep while the love of his life was out there in the hands of Vergil! “Whatever you say old man” he responded.

But of course Nero did not really listen to Dante. As soon as Dante had gone upstairs, Nero sneaked out of the shop. He ran into the direction of Fortuna again, even though there was a part of his mind that told him that his actions were wrong, that he should have stayed in the shop and waited for doing something to save Kyrie with Dante’s help.

Near the city, Nero’s devil senses tingled. Some demons had to be near. Nero hid behind a rock and waited. Then two Mephistos appeared. (A Mephisto covers itself with a cape of black mist composed of a special gas that allows it to pass through solid objects and float through the air) They were talking in some kind of hissing voices. “The Masssster on the hill wissshesss to be alone” one told the other. Dante said that Vergil would have a demon army and this meant that Vergil had to be the Master they spoke of. This again meant that Vergil was on the hill. It was Nero’s chance!

So the young demon hunter made his way up on the hill. When he came to the top, he saw him: Vergil was standing right there, looking at Nero. ‘He must have known I would come’ Nero thought to himself. However, it was too late to go back anyway. He would end this right there. Without hesitating, Nero drew his sword Red Queen. Vergil only grinned and also drew a sword. A second later the two blades collided and parted again. This was repeated several times and Nero was impressed: even though he was a great swordsman he could not even place one good strike on Vergil. Then after another time the two blades collided, the two fighters parted. Nero screamed at Vergil: “Where is she?! What did you do to her?” Vergil laughed: “Don’t worry she’s alive. But it doesn’t matter to you anyway ‘cause you’ll never see her again.” Nero was filled with rage but at the same time there grew a little spark of hope inside of him: Kyrie was still alive, so he could still save her. “Just tell me one thing, Vergil. Why the hell did you do this? You had no reason for it, she’s innocent!”

Vergil smiled at him: “I did it for you! Girls only distract you, your destiny is to be at my side when I take over the city and after that the whole human world!” Nero couldn’t believe what he was hearing; this guy had to be insane. “And why would I ever be at your side?” “Because I’m your father! You’re bound to me through blood, you have no choice. Just realize it, you are a demon and belong to my side!” “What the hell are you talking about? You’re not my father” Nero told him angrily.

Then Vergil triggered. He completely turned into a blue demonic appearance. Then he spoke with a demonic voice: “Haven’t you ever wondered what’s wrong with your arm or where you got it from?” Vergil asked, referring to Nero’s right arm, the demonic arm. Nero realized that it was legit. He now was really desperate: his father was a half demon that wanted to destroy the world. And even more: Dante was his uncle and had never told him about it. He must have known it! Nero clenched his teeth and yelled: “Tell me whatever you want; I would rather die than helping you!” Without any emotion the diabolic voice that he knew was Vergil’s answered: “As you wish!”

Nero was no fool; he knew he did not have the slightest chance against Vergil in devil form if he did not trigger. So he did without hesitating: the sharp pain of triggering went through his body as the blue shadow like figure appeared behind him. Before Nero could do anything else, Vergil attacked him. Nero fought hard and fought well, he even got a strike on Vergil with Yamato (in devil trigger, Nero fights with Yamato) but only after getting hit many more times.

Then Nero saw his chance: he sped up to Vergil who seemed to be distracted. Nero rose Yamato had he was about to hit Vergil when he felt an unbearable pain in his upper stomach and it grew even more, continuing in his chest. It was worse than being burnt alive; it felt like his whole body was torn apart while he was still alive. Blood made its way up Nero’s throat and started pouring out. Nero’s vision was getting dizzy but he did not give up, he couldn’t! Groans and screams of pain left his mouth uncontrollably. But he managed to peer down and what he saw shocked him: Vergil had pushed his whole arm into Nero’s chest… The pain grew even more as Vergil moved his arm deeper inside Nero’s chest. “Aaaah” Nero left out another scream, suffocated from all the blood pouring out of his mouth… He knew that this was his end… He should have stayed with Dante…

I know: poor Nero! Is this really his end? Is Vergil really Nero's fahter? And what about Dante? Will he go for revenge? And what will happen to Kyrie? Interested in the answer for any of these questions? Then you gotta go on reading!
