Nero put Kyrie down again and bent down to kiss her. It just felt so right to finally feel her lips on his again.
“Come on, lovebirds, let’s go! Vergil may be gone, but I don’t think that every demon in this area has simply disappeared.” Dante said.
Kyrie’s eyes grew big in fear, so Nero held her close. “You’re right, let’s get out of here as fast as we can!” Kyrie managed a nod, and the three of them took off. Dante was a few steps ahead of them, permanently scanning their surroundings for any kind of demons. “This seems too easy… I know that they are somewhere around us, I can feel it.” Dante mumbled. “Me too, Dante. But maybe they just stay away from us, considering we’ve just sent their boss back to hell…” “You don’t really believe this, kid, do you?” Dante asked him in disbelieve. In response he only got a cocky smile.
Suddenly Nero froze, drawing Red Queen. “Dante. They are coming.” Dante stopped in his tracks, Rebellion ready to fight. “Kyrie, take this gun and please aim well.” Nero ordered her as he handed Blue Rose over to his girlfriend. “What?! Nero, I can’t fight!” she exclaimed hysterically. She got her response from Dante: “Well, sweetie, you don’t really have a choice. Fight or die because telling them you can’t fight won’t stop them from killing you.” “Don’t worry, babe, I will protect you!” Nero assured her.
Then he turned around to face their enemies. There were Scarecrows coming out of every corner, every direction. The three were standing in some sort of an entrance hall and it was slowly filling with the demons. “Dammit!” Nero cursed, “Let’s just fight our way out of here, Dante!”
“Kyrie, you see that door over there? We have to get there, it leads us out of here. Stay right behind us and get through the door as soon as we reach it, then you might be able to avoid the fight!” Dante told her. Then he and Nero started attacking the demons closest to them. They were not hard to defeat, but they were many. While Dante was spinning his sword around, taking many Scarecrows down at a time, Nero used his devil bringer in the perfect way. He pulled demons close, smashed them to the ground and finally finished them with his blade. They were approaching the door and finally they got through it. Nero quickly shut the door behind them, before the remaining Scarecrows could follow.
Outside the old castle, they had a great views down the hill – a great view on Fortuna. “Home!” Kyrie exclaimed in awe. Dante stepped next to her “There’s no place like home.”
“But I can never return there. I am a wanted man in Fortuna. And now that Vergil’s gone, they won’t believe me…” Nero said. Kyrie turned to him: “But Nero, you are innocent.”
“Don’t you understand? I can’t ever go back to Fortuna!” Nero exclaimed desperately. “You have to go home without me.”
Kyrie simply shook her head. “Home is where your heart is. My heart already belongs to you, Nero. Without you, Fortuna isn’t my home. My home is just where you are. I am home, when I am in your arms.”
Nero smiled sadly and embraced her. He hold her closer than he ever did before and whispered into her ear: “I don’t want you to give up your life for me. I am homeless now, I belong nowhere. I love you Kyrie, and that’s why I want you to go back to Fortuna and find a good human husband. A good guy, someone who is not like me – a demon.”
While saying this, some tears that he had tried so badly to hold back, escaped his eyes and dropped down on Kyrie’s head.
“Nero, I can’t leave you. It would tear my heart apart. Besides, you are the most human person I know. I would follow you to the end of the world.”
“But Kyrie…”
“Forget it! I am going nowhere without you!” She told him and he knew that it was no use trying to change her mind.
“But where shall we go, we have nowhere to go!” Nero said sadly.
“Um, hello? I am still there!” Dante exclaimed at this point. “I might hate myself for doing this now… But you know, Nero, you two could also move I with me. I mean Devil may Cry is in a huge building and there might me some space for you, too.”
Nero stared at him in surprise. Then he started to grin widely. “Thank you so much!” in a cocky way he added “So I guess I can call you Uncle-Dante-the-generous-old-man in future!” “Don’t make me take back the offer, kid” he just shot back.
So the three of them headed to Dante’s home, which would be their home now. Near Fortuna, Kyrie left the two men in order to fetch her things and say good-bye to Credo.
Nero and Dante were sitting on a rock next to each other in silence. Finally Nero broke it by calmly saying: “You, know Dante, Vergil might be my biological father, but it doesn’t feel like it.” He hesitated then he went on: “Actually you are more father to me than he has ever been. You saved my life many times now. And… I wanna thank you for it… not just for saving me by not letting me get killed… also for saving me by giving me a family. I never belonged anywhere.”
Dante looked into the younger one’s eyes, then he told him: “Nero, you do belong right here. You belong to your family. I might not be a huge family, but I am your family and I won’t ever let you down. I mean, you’re the only nephew I have, kid, and besides you seem to be too cool, to simply let you get killed.” Both started laughing at the last words.
When Kyrie returned from Fortuna, she saw the two white haired sitting on the rock, laughing about something. “Guys, I’m back. Let’s go!” She told them. Nero looked at Dante. “She’s right, let’s go home!”
So they took off…

So, this time there is really only one chapter left. It will be some sort of an epilogue or chapter about what their life at Devil May Cry will be like after some time. I am not sure how long it's gonna be or what exactly I will write in this thing...
Okay however, I hope you liked this chapter... I wanted to let Kyrie die when the Scarecrows came here, but then I thought Nero would be so devastated... I mean he risked his life only to save her... I'm not sure whether he would go on without her... At least not in this story...
I also don't know whether I'm gonna write another DmC story... I absolutely loved writing this one, but I don't have some epic idea for my next story to write. Maybe it's gonna be a story about some other fandom...
Whatever, thank you for reading, voting and commenting! It's always great to get you feedback!
