Silver's POV
I woke up and peeked up at the sky. It was noon. I guess that's all the sleep I need for now. My legs were numb and cold, heck, everything was cold. I tried to move my leg again, it tingled, but it did move. I smiled satisfied."Time to get going— great now I'm talking to myself."
Just how insane am I becoming. Screaming at my legs, talking to myself. Jesus. I'm a basket case. I stood up carefully and let the blood circulate through my legs. Then I started walking again.
"I feel like I'm forgetting to do something...Ehh whatever it's probably not important."
I continued walking down the path forgetting about my bruised back and numb with pain spine. Everything in my body hurt. But it hurt so bad that I got used to the pain. It hurt so bad that I didn't realize it hurt.
I inhaled again checking my direction. Careful not to stray away from the sent of foxes. I continued on with the determination to find Takashie. I need to get to him.
Suddenly I stopped. I felt myself go pale. I remembered something, from my childhood. I saw a halo engraved into the trunk of a birch tree.
Flashback:
"Daddy! Look! An angel!"
"I know, sweet pea. Don't get to close. It's not polite to step on grandma's grave."
The tombstone of an angel was placed in front of me. It was beautiful. The most beautiful statue I've ever seen.
"It's grandma's grave?"
"Yes, don't step on it."
"Then why isn't she here to show me it?"
"Because shes underneath it."
"Why is she down there? Is she playing hide-and-seek?"
"No, she is dead."
"What is dead?"
"She is no longer in this world."
"We're did she go? And when will she be back I need to practice my song for the piano recital!"
"She isn't coming back. She's gone. And no more of this piano business." I started to cry.
"Why isn't she coming back?!"
"Because she is dead." My Dad let go of my hand and walked away, to go drink with my Mum.
Why did she leave? And why can't I play....I want to play.....I want to continue to make music with Grandma ...I want to make music for Grandma. I ran into the forest crying. Nobody noticed I left. Nobody saw that I was no longer with them.
I ran deeper and deeper, into the forest surrounding my Grandmothers grave.I stopped when I saw one big birch tree, standing alone in a sea of oak trees. One light in a forest of darkness. This tree is like an angel. All angels need halos, so I searched around the ground for a stick. Then I carved a halo into the tree.
"Please always do everything you can for the other trees so you all can live a long and happy life!"
Then I walked back to my family. All dressed in black. Not exactly sure why I was forced into a poofy black dress, along with all the other adults. Everyone was wearing black. We're was the light in this forest? In that single birch tree. I still don't understand why people are crying, why grandma isn't coming back and why no one is light in my family. Maybe I can be the lighting my family, one day!
I ran back to my drunk family and tried to be the best daughter without complaints! I won't even complain about not being able to play piano anymore! I hope daddy and Mummy are proud of me!
