—-ZaylaAfter I told Owen what Justin had said, his parents agreed that it would be best for them to move in with us until the threat was no longer there.
Owen was going crazy dealing with me in bed rest. I still had a month left of the pregnancy and I was so irritated. I was sitting with my arms crossed, planning a possible escape.
I considered many options to get up, but the difficulty was that the main area of weight was in the front and usually I needed Owen's help. I moved my pillows and Owen's pillows to help get up. I put my hand against my back and put my other hand on the pillows. I made it to my feet and lost my balance. I felt Owen's strong arms and chest as he caught me.
"Oh no." I said.
"Oh yeah." He said kissing my ear. I could hear the smile in his voice.
"The doctor said I could have a small amount of freedom." I said.
"You should have called for me. I would have helped you." He said.
"The anchor already ran into the ship." I said. He laughed at my form of a metaphor. He had me sit down and put my tennis shoes on and tied them for me.
Owen and I were finishing up our shopping trip for the boys. "Owen, we should go now." I said.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah I'm just tired." I said leaning against the wall. "Really tired and my back kind of hurts."
Once in the truck and buckled up, he was driving. I was resting back against the chair starring at him. "Why are you starring at me?" He asked with a smile.
"Because I love you and I'm undressing you with my eyes." I said with a smile.
"I love it when you talk dirty." He said making me laugh. I felt a pain in my stomach and then I felt water soak my sweatpants.
"Ow." I said.
"Zay?" Owen asked looking at me.
"Ow, Ow, Ow." I sobbed. "My water broke." He took my hand.
"Breathe. Breathe baby."
"They're coming now. Owen pull over." I begged. He pulled over and called 911. He dug through the glove box and then checked under the back seat. "Owen!"
"Hold on honey."
By the time the ambulance arrived, Owen was delivering his second son. Our first resting on my chest. "Hey how's it going?" Tyler asked. Owen delivered baby number 2 and clamped the cord.
At the hospital, Owen was sitting beside the hospital crib that our baby boys were sleeping in. His hand resting on them, with his fingers splayed out over them both so he was touching them both. I was half asleep laying on my side. "Owen?" He turned to me with love in his eyes.
"Can you get the doctor?" I asked. He kissed my forehead and stepped out. He returned with Dr. O'Ryan.
"What's wrong with the new mama?" She asked looking at my chart.
"Please tell me the boys are okay?"
"Honey, I've told you many times. They're all right. Owen did a great job. He knew what he was doing."
"I know. I just don't want to lose them." I said with a quiet sob.
"They're perfect. I'd never lie to you." She said. "They still need names." She said. Owen picked up my first born baby boy and handed him to me before picking up our second baby boy.
"Austin Andrew Vance and Owen Mason Vance Jr." I said looking at Owen. He smiled and settled in the chair beside my hospital bed.
That night, I was home sitting up in bed nursing Austin while Jr. was asleep beside me. Owen came in and stopped turning around. "Sorry."
"Owen, really?" I asked with a laugh.
"I-uh."
"Owen, turn around. It's fine." He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "Owen." I said laughing again.
"I'm just not..."
"Owen, he's eating. He's happy."
He sat down beside me and slid his hands under Jr. "Has he been fed?"
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Mom and Dad are on the way home. They can hardly wait to see the boys. They feel bad that they didn't make it to the hospital."
"It's fine. I only want us and them to hold the boys. No one else until I say so." I said and he nodded in agreement.
Two weeks passed, Owen was at the grocery store while I was asleep upstairs in our room. The boys' cribs side by side by our bed so I could see them and reach them. His parents down in the kitchen working on some cleaning.
I woke up from a nightmare and panicked instantly at the fact that the boys were gone. I rushed down the stairs falling about halfway down. Owen ran in and hurried to my side. "Zayla, are you alright?"
"I can't find them." I said panicking.
"Zayla the boys are in the kitchen with mom and Dad. When I got back I came up to check on you and they were awake. I brought them downstairs so they wouldn't wake you." He helped me up. He scooped me up and carried me into the kitchen. He set me down in a chair and grabbed the first aid kit.
