A/N: Planning a transition to a new character and possibly new book. A sequel to Alpha's Weakness.

Austin and Owen Jr. were 10, Angel was 7, Travis Michael was 4, and I was pregnant with twin girls. I was sitting in the kitchen filling out the registration papers for the kids to go back to school when Owen came home. "Hey baby."
"Hi." I said.
"Oh, she's crabby." He said. "What's wrong?"
"Doesn't matter. I don't expect it from you anyway." I said.
"Zayla, expect what?" He asked sitting beside me. "Tell me."
"A baby shower, a new bed for my back since the last accident, a freaking new head because my brain is so freaking screwed up."
"Well, I can take care of two of those things. I didn't think you wanted a baby shower and all you had to do was tell me about the new bed. Sorry but your head is beautiful the way it is." He said kissing my cheek. "I'll go to the furniture store tomorrow."
"Can I come with you?" I asked.
"Dr. O'Ryan wants you to take it easy."
"I will. Just let me go with please. You and Dad won't let me go into the office. I'm stuck in this house all fucking day."
"Hey watch the language." He said.
"What are you going to do about it?" I asked. He smiled scooping me up and carrying me upstairs.
The next day, I was walking with Owen at the furniture store, my hand in his. "Can we get food after we're done here?" I asked Owen.
"Of course." He said. He followed me over to the bed that caught my eye. I sat down on it and pushed the button on the remote.
"Both sides are adjustable and the temperature can be switched on both sides as well." The salesman said. I sat back on the bed and Owen watched my reaction.
"What'cha think baby?" He asked.
"I like it." I said. The salesman was starring at me. Everywhere but my face.
"Hey buddy. I understand that she's nice to look at but she's mine. So either look at her face or look away before I make it so you only look at your feet." I heard Owen say. "We will take the bed." Owen helped me up.
"Awe, were you defending my honor?" I asked.
"He shouldn't be looking at you like that." I slid my arms around his waist kissing his lips. I leaned my head against his chest and he held me tight.
Once the bed was loaded into the back of the pickup, Owen was making sure it was tied down. The guy from earlier trapped me between him and the truck. He grabbed my face and pressed himself against me. I tried to stomp on his foot and it didn't do any good. He covered my mouth with his hand. Keeping me from yelling for Owen. "Shh." He said violating my space even more. I sobbed at the discomfort. I jumped hearing a slam. I saw Owen behind the guy holding his gun. Owen had a concealed carry permit.
"I told you earlier and that was me being nice. Don't make me pull this trigger." I sobbed for Owen. The guy let me go and he was arrested for assault. "We are pressing charges." It only took seconds for me to feel so violated at the hands of that monster. Owen put down his gun inside the truck and caught me before I fell. I pressed my face against his neck sobbing. He hugged me tight.
While at the hospital, Owen was angry and pacing. "Owen, please, come hold me." I begged worried he was going to leave and hurt someone.
"You would have been fine if I had been paying attention." He growled pacing.
"Baby, please just come here." He sat down beside me, I slid my hands over his face leaning my head against his. "I'm fine Owen. I'm fine." I made him kiss me. My lips brushed against his. He slid his arms around me. "I love you." I said.
That night, Owen and his dad were moving the old bed out and bringing the new one in. The old one was only a year old but hard on my back. We were putting it in Austin's room so he didn't have to bunk with his brother. Travis had his own room and now Austin and Jr. had their own rooms. Angel always had her own room and the nursery for our newest additions was across the hall from mine and Owen's. Owen got the new bed all plugged in and set up for me by the time I was out of the shower and ready for bed.

Zayla was asleep by the time I came in, she was curled up toward the middle of the bed. I climbed into bed beside her. "Hey you." I whispered in her ear. "Hey." She woke up looking at me over her shoulder. "The bed hog needs to move over." I said.
"Deal with it." She said with a smile.
"I need a shower." I said fixing the blanket over her. "When I get back you better move over."
"Oh I'm scared." She said making me laugh.

Two months later, it was three weeks before my due date and O'Ryan wanted to deliver the girls. It was for my own safety and the babies'.
"No more." I said.
"You're the boss." Owen said helping me into the SUV. The kids piled in ready to meet their little sisters. "Alicia and Monica it's almost time to see the world." Owen said backing out of the driveway.
At the hospital, Owen was sitting by my head. Dr. O'Ryan was performing the c-section. I heard the cries of my baby girls. Owen stood up and saw them. The nurse brought them up to my head. "Alicia Mae and Monica Lynn." I said.
"They're stats are a little low. We're going to take them up to the NICU for observation."
"Owen stay with them. Don't let them out of your sight."
"Okay. I love you. See you soon." He kissed me softly and went with up to the NICU.
"Zayla, that fall yesterday." Dr. O'Ryan said.
"What?"
"You have some bleeding. I'm going to try to get it stopped okay?"
"Okay." I whispered.
"Zayla, you need to calm down honey. Everything's okay. I've got you." She said. I nodded.

I was holding my baby girls. Alicia and Monica both took more after their mother than me. "Has Zayla Vance been moved into her own room yet?"
"No. She's still in surgery."
"Still? What do you mean? O'Ryan said she just needed stitched up."
"There was a complication." I put my daughters down and ran down the hall. I was stopped in the doorway.
Dr. O'Ryan came out. "Owen." She said surprised.
"I was told there was a complication. Please tell me she's alright."
"Yesterday's fall caused damage to her spleen. She also had a bleed in her uterus that I couldn't stop. I had to remove her uterus. She can't have any more children."
"I understand. We agreed . Is she alright?"
"Yes. She's in recovery. I'll come and get you when you can come see her okay?" I nodded. "She's going to be in a lot of pain when she gets out of here."
"I'll take care of everything that needs taken care of. I know the drill with post c-section."
