After Jace left, Mila got a call from the police in Florida. They wanted her to come down there in 30 days, where Peter's trial would be. They wanted her to testify against him.
Mila hasn't been in Florida since that night, but she must overcome her fear someday. Plus she wants Peter to be locked up in prison for as long as he can. Therefore she agreed on the spot.
She also thought that it was about time she visited her grandma.
It is a lovely day, today and Irina suggested that it was time for Mila to come out of the house. So they are going to the beach today.
Mila walks out of her home and makes her way down the road, towards the beach.
She gives Kyle a small wave on her way when she notices him.
"Hey, Kyle." She gives him the pleasure of seeing a smile, a smile she usually wouldn't give strangers.
Kyle mirrors her smile, "Hey, Mila. What is up?"
Mila gives him a shrug, "Not much. Just going to meet some friends down at the beach." Kyle nods his head at her answer and keeps the smile on, though Mila can still see the sadness behind it. It is one she has used many times herself.
"Do you want to come? I'm sure Sam would like some guy company."
Kyle is about to say no when Mila continues, "Come on. I know what it is like not knowing anyone when moving to a new town. And I think that you and Sam would get along just great."
He nods his head, glad for her understanding. "I'll go change. Do you wanna wait inside?" He begins walking towards the door, still facing her.
"Sure."
The inside is beautiful. It has that homy feeling that each house should possess.
Its structure is the same as Mila's house, but without the cold items. The walls are filled with family photos, clearly indicating a happy family life. The furniture is a combination of blue and white, contrasting the view of the ocean.
"It will just be a second, but act like you're home." He is about to walk up the stairs when he remembers.
He quickly jogs over to where Mila stands, looking at some photos on the wall. "If you run into my mom, then promise me that you won't by any circumstance let her show you any pictures." His voice is full of seriousness and Mila must control herself for not laughing.
"Okay." She answers. Knowing full well that if she had a chance, she would love to meet a woman, who loves her son so much that she would show family pictures to a complete stranger.
Her mom surely wouldn't do that.
Chelsea probably wouldn't even say that she had any children.
Kyle nods and runs towards his previous goal.
Mila looks at the picture she was studying before. It includes Kyle when he was about 13 years old along with what Mila assumes is his mom and dad.
And they are all smiling.
Mila too smiles at the sweet picture.
She knows that she will never see that kind of picture back in her own house.
Maybe once they had such pictures hanging, but Mila can't remember that time. It must have been back when Chelsea and Robert still were in love.
"Oh, my. Is that a girl!?" A voice rings behind Mila.
Mila turns around and smiles at the woman before her.
She has brown hair, the same colour as Kyle, styled up in a messy bun on top of her head. She too has dark blue eyes.
