Samanda walks peacefully with her dad by her side.
It is almost midnight, but she persuaded her dad to go for a walk with her.
Samanda just heard that her mom is ill, very ill.
And the worst is that she doesn't know where in the world she is.
She and her dad had to leave her and her little sister behind 9, years ago.
Samanda never questioned her dad why they had to leave. Maybe she is scared for the answer?
Or how her dad will react.
Though, it must have been something in the air, because she asks him. "Why did we leave them?"
Her dad stops dead in his tracks; He is standing in the middle of the road.
Samanda notices the lack of companionship by her side, so she too stops, in the middle of the road.
"Dad?"
"Why are you asking me this? Especially on this day?"
Samanda shrugs and looks down at her feet sad, "I want to know that there was a real reason for us to leave them behind. For me to grow up without a mother."
Her dad stands still, still not moving from the quiet road.
Samanda's eyes bulge out, "There is a valid reason for leaving, right?" She was too young to remember.
He says nothing in return, but his eyes say it all; filled with sorrow and regret.
"Tell me!" She screams. Tears are building up in her sad eyes. All the emotions of today get a toll on her.
"I am so sorry." He sobs out.
"What did you do!" She goes over to him and begins to shake him.
"I-I was a coward. She cheated on me, and we got into this huge fight, and I couldn't take it. I took you with me because I didn't want to be alone. And because I wanted her to suffer just as much as I did."
Samanda lets go of her dad, "B-But how does that make y-you a coward?"
"I was the reason she cheated in the first place! I was never home, ever since my law firm took off." He replies.
She takes a deep breath, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want you to change the way you think of your mom."
"Oh, dad." She says, before embracing him in a big hug.
He hugs her back immediately.
Samanda whispers to him, "I love you."
Her dad pulls her back, and behind his tears, there are the same words.
He is about to open his mouth and say them back, but it happens to fast.
A high pitched scream erupts from Samanda, and she hurriedly catches him off guard and pushes him away from the road.
Two cars come from each direction, driving way too fast.
In one of the cars sit Mila and Peter. Mila just got a text from Nick, and Peter gets angry. He doesn't see the car coming in front of him, and he doesn't see Samanda either.
The car coming from the other direction is a drunk driver. He doesn't care if he lives or dies.
He wants to die.
That's why he doesn't speed down when he sees both Samanda and the other car.
Blake scrambles up from the ground and is about to go out and save his daughter.
Samanda sends him one last look before the two cars crush her.
Mila and Peter went unconscious immediately, but the drunk driver and Samanda died on the spot.
Blake sits on the ground in front of the horrible accident.
He quietly crawls over to the spot where his deceased daughter lays.
Her red hair is sprawled around her face, mixed with blood and dirt.
Blake raises his shaking hand and closes her dead eyes.
His eyes look around the scene. Though they stop at Mila and Peter.
He raises himself and like a zombie, he stalks over to the two unconscious teenagers.
Blake can see that they are breathing, but the girl's leg is pointing the wrong way. 'That must hurt.' He thinks to himself. But then he looks over at his daughter, '...good'.
He walks back to his daughter and carefully pulls her away from the accident.
He then calls the ambulance saying that a horrible accident has happened and that there were survivors.
He ends the call without saying anything else.
Blake takes his daughter up in his arms and walks into the woods.
He promises himself that he will get justice for his daughter.
Though, he will need help.
And the one he got it from is sitting in the dark room along with Mila and Peter.
One who Mila trusts. And cares about.
