"Mila?"
The two girls turn around and are face to face with Ryan and no other than Amanda hanging in his arms.
Mila gives Amanda a questioning look. She thought she was locked up in some mental hospital.
"By the look on your face, I guess you haven't heard that I'm declared sane," Amanda says casually. Mila and Irina don't miss the way she just pressed herself even more against Ryan.
"No, we haven't" Irina answers through clenched teeth.
"So, I guess you two are back together?" Mila questions, still not quite comprehending the sight before her.
Ryan scratches the back of his neck awkwardly. He hates confrontations. He was hoping he wouldn't have to meet Mila again since they don't go to the same school anymore.
"Of course. Ryan clearly couldn't stay away from me." She plants a hand on his bare chest, "Isn't that right baby?"
Even though Amanda's gaze is locked up on her boyfriends, Ryan is looking at Mila.
He has been thinking for the past week that he needed to say sorry to her for the way he ended their relationship, but then Amanda came back into his life.
Kyle and Sam make their way back to the group. Sam hasn't noticed his old friend yet.
He swings his arm around Irina, "Hey girls, me and my new bro Kyle was wondering when we were..." He leaves the sentence hanging in the air when he finally notices Ryan standing before them.
"What is he doing here?" His voice drips with disgust. Sam has lost all respect for Ryan ever since he broke up with Mila, he thought his reason was cowardly and just a bad excuse.
Amanda looks at Sam, then back at Ryan, and then towards Mila. Confusion is written all over her face.
"What is going on here?" She asks.
"Oh, nothing important. Your ex-boyfriend..."
"We are together again." Amanda interrupts.
"Who cares." Sam shots back, "He's a douche and a coward." He looks at them "You two deserve each other."
Sam then looks at Mila, Irina and Kyle. "I'll go find us a spot down at the water."
Irina looks after him and then back at Mila, "I'll go after him."
Mila nods her head. She knows that Irina will be only one who can get Sam in a good mood again.
"I guess it's true what they say, red-heads has a short temper," Amanda says, "Isn't that right baby?"
Ryan is still looking after his old friend when he mumbles a "Sure."
Mila rolls her eyes and turns her attention towards Kyle, who has been watching the whole exchange. "Let's go too." He doesn't argue and follows her without saying anything.
Ryan untangles himself from Amanda and grabs out after Mila. "Can we talk?"
She looks down at his hand on her arm. "We have nothing to talk about Ryan. We broke up. Our story has ended."
Mila removes his hand from her and continues her way towards the water.
She lets out a breath and can't help but smile.
Their story has ended, and a new one can start.
