Paul tapped his foot impatiently in the waiting room. He'd been waiting a whole hour. He didn't think it would take this long. He got up and knocked on the door to John's room.

The nurse yelled. "Just a second"

"Can I talk to the doctor?" Paul yelled through the door. He didn't get an answer, so he knocked again.

"The doctor is really busy with your friend right now, come back in a few minutes. He needs to focus!" The nurse said frantically.

Paul furrowed his brows, and started to walk back to the waiting room. He sat down and waited a few more minutes. He saw the doctor walking through a hallway and ran to him.

"Is John okay?" Paul asked. "Are you done?"

The doctor looked confused. "John? Oh, yeah, he's fine. We wrapped him up in bandages, and he's all good to go."

Paul let out a sigh of relief. He started to make his way slowly to John's room, when the doctor called out to him.

"Did the nurse not tell you he was ready? Because he's been ready for about 20 minutes now. I told her to tell you to come get him a long time ago."

Paul stared at him blankly.

"Well, anyway, could you remind her to make sure that she brings the gas machine back to the supplies room? Thanks." The doctor walked into another room to start treating another patient.

Paul just stood there confused. Why had the nurse lied? Paul walked back to John's door and knocked on it. There was a long silence, and Paul thought he heard worried whispering. He knocked again.

"Just a few minutes. The doctor's still working, Mr. McCartney!" The nurse yelled.

Paul was now really confused. He had just spoken to the doctor, who was obviously not in the room with John.

Paul swung the door open, then immediately crossed his arms. The nurse was on top of John, and they were making out.

"Really, John?! Wrap it up, we're leaving." Paul said impatiently. The nurse got off of John, and scurried out of the room.

"Sorry, Paul. Was just testing something..." John hinted, though he knew Paul wouldn't understand what he meant. Then, all of a sudden, John realized that Paul would never understand.

Paul turned away and was about to exit, when he suddenly heard John whimper.  He turned back around and finally looked at John's face. Paul's jaw dropped. John's lip was quivering, and tears were running down his face.

"John? Why are you- what's wrong?" Paul hurried over to John's bedside.

John wiped away the tears, and turned his head away. "Nothing."

"Are you okay? Christ, John, you never cry in public, I know you. Tell me what's wrong." Paul gave a concerned look. He sat John up and wrapped his arms around him. He squeezed him super hard and didn't let go until he heard a doctor enter the room.

"I need this room to be empty, please. Whoa! Is that John Lennon?"

Paul turned around and flashed a dirty look. The doctor awkwardly stepped out while muttering to himself. "Wow, and McCartney. My little girls are gonna get a kick out of this story." Paul turned back to John, and sighed.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want, just know I'm here for you." John looked at Paul and tried to force a smile, but tears were still pouring down his cheeks. Paul tried to force one too.

"Do you want to stay here?" Paul asked. "Do you want me to stay with you here overnight?"

John slowly nodded.

"Ok. We'll stay here tonight." Paul smiled. "Do you not want to talk? Do you not want to talk about this?"

John shook his head, then stared into space. Paul sat down in a chair next to the bed. After a few minutes, they were both fast asleep.
