Chapter 7
I was heading back to my locker after Painting II. I was going to put my things in my locker before heading to lunch. I sighed and slouched as I walked down the mysteriously abandoned hallway, replaying what happened in choir. Always have to make your worst enemy on the first day of school!
I didn’t even have time to realize that somebody had been following until I was violently pushed against the wall of lockers.
“HOW DARE YOU!” Natalie pinned my arms above my head. The last thing I saw was her murderous glare before my eyes glazed over as her touch brought that familiar dizzy feeling…
(In the Vision)
For the second time this summer I found myself in the picture, and I realized that I was near the forest at the edge of the school’s track. I looked but I needn’t look any farther than the scene in front of me.
“Hey Nate.” Natalie purred as she practically glued herself to Nate’s sexy body.
“Natalie get off of me!” Nate’s voice rang power and authority, and Natalie shrank back.
This was probably the weirdest time to get turned on just from hearing his voice… But OH GOD that was the sexiest thing I had ever heard! The vision blurred as my thoughts drifted towards Nate rather than the scene in front of me, bringing some pretty r-rated pictures…
“Is this about her!?” Natalie screeched, causing the vision to snap back into focus. “Don’t worry sweetie I’ll save you! She’s clearly manipulated you to think you’re her mate!” Natalie cried out and tried to get closer to Nate.
“NO Natalie we never had anything between us!” Nate growled in a menacing way (Again, so sexy).
Natalie’s puppy dog face switched to the face of the devil, “I love you Nate! I’ll get rid of the bitch! When she’s gone we’ll finally be together, true love will never fail!” Natalie threw herself on him and kissed him desperately, hoping for a reaction that would never come.
Nate roared as he flung her 30 feet away, his eyes smoldered with rage as he twitched violently.
(End of Vision)
I found myself in the dark, a face looming above my own. I started to scream when a hand covered my mouth.
“It’s me.” The person whispered in my ear.
I relaxed. Nate.
When he removed his hand I let out a deep sigh, trying to focus my eyes on something in the dark. It was only when I began to make out his facial features that it confirmed it was who I thought it was.
“How long was I out?” I said as I rubbed my shoulder, hurting slightly from the impact I had with the wall in the hallway.
“Around 15.” His smirk was visible, “We’re missing cafeteria food.”
His humor made no sense, and I said it before I could even register it, “Then why’d you help me?”
I knew the answer, and I never noticed until now how close we were. His face an inch away from my own. I looked down shyly before looking into the deep ocean currents called his eyes.
“I don’t know.” He murmured, moving minutely closer.
I smiled in the dark, an unknown confidence surging forth, “I think I do.”
