Chapter 30

“So what exactly are we doing?” I whisper to Nate as I speed-walked away from the seeker, aka Harmony.

“Hide and Seek.” He chuckled, and I couldn’t help the small blush from blossoming on my cheeks.

“I know that!” I fidgeted, opening a random door on my right and peering inside. “But how exactly will this get Christina out of that room?” I shut the door, resuming my walk with Nate as we searched for a hiding spot.

He laughed, saying that I would see soon enough. I pouted, wanting to be in on whatever they were planning.

“50… 51… 52…” Harmony shouted out, her voice loud enough to be heard throughout the house, no doubt.

“We’ve wasted an entire minute!” I whisper shouted, “You are of no help Nathaniel!” I opened another random door and stepped inside, giving the room an once-over before going straight to the closet.

“Very original.” I heard him say as I shut the closet door, preventing him from coming in. I expected him to come after me, and I was surprised when he never did. I really wanted to check if he was still out there, but I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction. It was too bad that I gave in anyway, and I cracked the door open. “Excuse me m’lady.” He said in a posh accent, opening the door and closing it behind him just as I heard Harmony say 100.

Ok… Stuck in a closet with Nate… this should be….?

“What are you doing?” He asked me, his breath smelling minty fresh.

I smiled a little as I notice that I had been staring at him. “Noth—” My lips clamped shut, and the lie wouldn’t come out. I decided to save myself from more humiliation by just telling the truth. “Staring.”

He smirked that know-it-all smirk. “At me?”

I rolled my eyes, “Cocky much?”

“Very.” He chuckled, and I froze as he leaned in closer. It was not agonizingly slow, but slow enough for me to realize, Oh! He’s going to kiss me!, and shut my eyes as I expected the moment his lips met mine. I could feel his warm breath and I could just sense he was only an inch or two away. I knew that it would be any second… And then it happened, our lips brushed ever so lightly. Oh no… That familiar and annoying dizziness washed over me. I froze in place, my eyes still shut and my position the same as when that touch had come… but I was a statue now…

“She’s up to no good.” Nate’s undeniable voice was the first to be heard in the blackness. “I can feel it.”

“To tell you the truth, I think so too.” A female voice said back, sounding exactly like his sister, Christina. “She’s definitely got something up her sleeve…”

“You don’t think Natalie will do something at Homecoming do you?” He growled, “I swear if she does something to hurt Luna…”

“Just keep an eye on her.” Christina advised, “Act so lovey-dovey with Luna that everyone in the pack would be devastated and angry if Natalie tried to split the two of you apart… It won’t be too hard.” A smirk was evident in her voice, “You guys are practically inhaling each other every single time you’re alone.”

                                                   (End of Vision)

I was jolted back into reality, my eyes shot open and at first saw nothing but the darkness. Once my eyes adjusted though, I could make out Nate and the interior of the closet. I realized that we hadn’t moved.
