THE NEXT MORNING, DIANA DONNED HER ARMOR AND WEAPONS, THEN IMMEDIATELY SET OUT FOR WAKANDA. The exact location of small state was permanently engraved into her memory, and her sense of geography was far more developed than that of any mortal man, so she knew she would have no trouble finding it.
However, it was getting in that concerned her. How was she supposed to know where the city was hiding? It could've been anywhere, and she could be searching for hours. So, to spare time, Diana decided to ask someone and see if they would reveal the location to her.
Seeing a small farm below her, she descends down from the sky, landing lightly on her feet before brushing her hair out of her face. The three Wakandan farmers—two adults and a child no older than ten—stared at her as she approached them, wide-eyed and shocked into silence.
"Greetings," Diana said in Xhosan, knowing that they might not understand her otherwise. "I am Princess Diana of Themyscira, and I'm looking for the city of Wakanda. There's something important there that I need to find. Could you be so kind as to show me where to go?"
The two adults bit their lips, clearly untrusting of her. But thankfully, the young child simply pointed to a large mound of trees in the distance.
"There," he said. "It's in that big clump of trees."
Diana smiled and nodded. "Thank you."
Spreading out her arms, she took flight once again, heading for the thick jungle where Wakanda was supposed to be.
But she had no idea of the events that would follow when she found it.

As night fell, Diana decided to continue her trek on foot. Descending into the thick jungle, she looked around to make sure there was no danger. Other than the momentary whirring sound from above, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so she continued on.
She hadn't been walking long before she heard the rumbling of an engine—then that same sound came sputtering to a halt. Concerned and alarmed, she darted forward before crouching in a tree, and soon she saw the source of the sound.
It was a long line of trucks, each one ringed with armed men. From the looks of them they had to be smugglers, which made Diana's brows furrow in distaste. She'd dealt with smugglers in the past, and she didn't like them one bit. However, what they were smuggling, Diana had no idea, but before she could even think of why a dark shadow passed over her, landing in a tree a few feet away.
Diana drew her sword in alarm, only to realize that whatever it was, its attention wasn't on her. It was entirely focused on the smugglers, who had gotten out of their cars and were searching the jungle.
