12 - The Final Battle

DIANA HISSED IN PAIN THE MOMENT ERIS REAPPEARED AND THREW HER TO THE GROUND. The force of Diana impacting the grass made a huge crater in the dirt, and she barely had time to respond before Eris landed in front of her and swung her chained blade at her. Diana quickly crossed her arms in front of her face, blocking the attack before she jumped to her feet and drew her sword.

"This ends now," Diana said, pointing her weapon at Eris.

Eris just grinned wickedly, cracking her neck. Then, her appearance began to change. Her hair suddenly cleaned itself and shortened so it was shoulder length, and her dirty skin cleared. Her tattered outfit morphed into a tight green bodysuit with darker green layers, and the headdress she wore compressed into a hood. Finally, her chained blades retracted and stiffened, turning into two massive broadswords, which glimmered cruelly in the sunlight.

"Oh no, dear sister," Eris sneered, twirling her swords in her hands. "It's only just begun."

Diana let out a warrior cry and leapt forward, swinging her sword at Eris. The evil goddess met Diana's sword with her own, and soon the two began to duel it out in a fierce swordfight.

Diana held her own, fighting back against Eris. But the scratches on her face were bleeding into her eyes again, and the cuts and bruises on her neck and arms stung with each move she made. She knew she was tiring, and she knew she couldn't keep this up for much longer.

Eris suddenly spun around, slamming her foot into Diana's abdomen and kicking her to the grass. Diana landed hard on the ground several feet away, but as soon as she jumped to her feet Eris lunged and locked her sword around Diana's neck, holding her in place.

"Give up, Diana," Eris spat as Diana struggled to free herself. "You were once a warrior, feared by all who dared to defy you. But your feelings for these people has made you weak and spineless. And it's this love that will be theirs and your downfall. I will kill you, and then I will kill them all, one by one, starting with your beloved king."

Diana gritted her teeth, grabbing Eris' arms. "Now that..." She flipped Eris up and over her head, slamming the wicked goddess onto the ground before Diana pointed her sword at her. "...I will not allow."

Eris growled, jumping to her feet and summoning her sword to her hand before swiping at Diana. But Diana smoothly dodged the attack, then dropped to the balls of her feet and spun around on her left foot, sweeping her right leg in a circle and knocking Eris' feet out from under her. Eris fell onto her back, but quickly leapt back up and grabbed Diana by the throat before flying into the air with her.

"Die, Amazon," Eris snarled, then dropped her body and slammed Diana into the ground. Diana immediately tried to stand, but Eris raised her sword and stabbed Diana's shoulder, causing her to yell out in pain and lean her head back.
