"happy four months." i press my lips against laura's temple, not wanting to smudge her makeup for the awards tonight. i pull out a card, along with a box. she grins.

"ross. i told you not to buy me anything." she chuckles.

"just open it." i roll my eyes playfully.

she sighs, taking the card out of the envelope first. her eyes scan the words from left to right and a smile forms on her face as she continues. "aweh ross. that was so sweet. i love you."

i feel my cheeks redden at her words, so i watch her open the box carefully. she unwraps the purple box and pulls the lid off, revealing the huge, shiny ring.

"r-ross. this is gorgeous." she stutters, "i-i can't."

"yes, you can and you will. it's yours." i smile widely, taking the ring out of the box to hand over to her. her eyes glued to the size, she slides it onto her middle finger and sticks her hand out to admire it.

"this must have cost a fortune, ross." she sighs.

"wasn't too bad." i shrug my shoulders. "but you deserve it, so happy four months, baby."

"i love you." she chuckles, "i have a gift for you too, but that'll be after the awards."

i roll my eyes. "you told me you weren't getting me anything!"

she shrugs. "i lied."

i laugh and grab her hand. "come on. let's go."

"i told rydel i'd stay with her tonight, so you can hangout with your brothers. plus, paparazzi won't get pictures of us and interviewers can't shove their microphones and cameras in our faces that way." laura tells me as we step into the limo where all my siblings were.

"okay, sounds good." i tell her. "how long do you want to keep this from everyone?"

laura shrugs, "not much longer. i'm just not ready for all the interviews and fans, you know?"

i nod. "completely."
