| ross' pov |

"someone tell me what the fuck is going on!" i say angrily, staring at calum who is sitting in the waiting area.

"ross, calm down. she got into a car accident, but she's going to be okay. she just has a small head concussion and she sprained her wrist." calum explains to me.

calum and i haven't spoke in over a year. and it was because of laura wayyy back when i met her.

"and how do you know all this? why are you here?" i suddenly ask with curiosity.

calum sighs. "kassidy and i are dating."

my eyes widen and i feel my jaw clench. "you what?"

"kassidy didn't want to tell you, so we kept it a secret for a while. we've been dating for about six months. she wasn't really visiting her family in florida. she was with me in seattle." calum bites his lip nervously.

before calum and i got into our argument, he was my best friend. him, kassidy and i were a group, we did everything together everyday. and for some reason, even though calum and i haven't been friends for a while, i still felt weird. my best friends are dating.

"why wouldn't she tell me?" i ask, suddenly offended.

calum rolls his eyes. "maybe because you hate me for trying to get your girl? look ross. i know right now probably isn't the best time. but i'm sorry, i was just jealous. laura's so beautiful, and you've always been the one to get whatever you want and everyone always loves you. i guess i just wanted something i knew you could get so easily. but i found someone, and i'm really happy with kassidy. can you forgive me?"

i frown at his words. "i never wanted you to feel like our friendship was a competition, calum. i'm sorry if you felt that way buddy. it's in the past."

calum smiles and hugs me, and we separate when a doctor approaches us. "kassidy is awake and well."

"can i please see her?" i ask.

the doctor nods. "don't talk to her too much, and please keep your voice low, she does have a concussion and she's just taken medication."

i nod, patting calum on the shoulder as he lets me to go. i quietly walk inside, and her eyes connect with mine.

"hey." i grin, "you look like ass."

"shut up, lynch. my heads killing me." she groans.

"i'm glad you're alive." i sigh, sitting in the chair beside her. "when were you gonna tell me you and calum were dating?"

kassidy's cheeks turn a light shade of pink before she speaks. "ross, i swear i was going to i just needed to find a good time and i—"

i chuckle which interrupts her. "don't worry about it. we're good now."

she smiles and sighs of relief. "thank god. he makes me really happy, ross."

"good." i smile, "that's all i want."

"how's laura?" she asks tiredly.

"fine."

"fine?" she raises an eyebrow. "where is she?"

"we're not together anymore. she thought a permanent break would be good for us." i sigh, "but now she's calling me saying she misses me. but i don't know what to believe. i love her to death, but she's driving me crazy."

kassidy giggles, shaking her head at me. "you're so in love with her ross, and she's so in love with you. she's supposed to drive you crazy and you're supposed to piss her off so much to the point where she wants a break. that's what love is. love isn't easy, but it's worth it. i've never seen two people laugh with each other, as much as you and laura do and i've never seen you this happy in years, ross. don't let this girl slip away so easily."

"get some rest, kass. i'll come see you tomorrow." i sigh, pressing my lips against her forehead.

she smiles and tells me to tell calum that she wants him. i hug calum goodbye, before reaching into my pocket and pulling out my phone. as i'm walking alone, i dial laura's number as i walk outside of the hospital building.

"ross?" she picks up with a tone of relief.

"hey." i say, clenching my jaw. "you can't call me and tell me that you miss me. i..i don't want to have that conversation over the phone. so you can't call me, you can't text me and you can't email me. you have to grow up, and come see m—"

"i'm here."

the line goes dead, but from the corner of my eye i see laura walking up to me with tears falling down her cheeks.

"h-how did you know i was here?" i ask.

"abigail called me and told me, what happened?" she asks, sniffling.

"oh um, kassidy got into a car accident but she's going to be fine." i answer.

laura gulps. "that's good, i'm glad."

i stay silent, staring into her big brown eyes.

"i can't stop thinking about you." she blurts out.

"you can't?"

laura shakes her head. "i hurt you, and i'm sorry. i don't know why i would assume you cheated on me with abigail. she called me and told me the whole story, and i should've believed you. i was just scared of getting hurt, the way jason hurt me. but i was wrong, okay? i love you ross. and i trust you. i love you so much. and i don't care if it's too late, i'm telling you anyway."

my eyes were attached to hers as they filled with tears. she licked the salty tears off her lips and frowned, walking closer towards me. "please, say something!"

"wait." i stop her. "i just want you to know that if you come any closer, i'm not letting you go."

laura sniffles once again, and slowly begins to walk towards me, she wraps her arms around my neck before crashing her lips against mine. i cup her cheeks in my hands and kiss her back, harder. feeling the same spark i did when we first kissed.

"i've missed you so much. i can't imagine my life without you." she whispers, resting her forehead against mine.

i grin. happy that i finally have her back. "well, you don't have to anymore. i'm back, permanently."
