| laura's pov |
ross was playing chords on his guitar while i was getting ready for dinner. he's been off all day, but i think it's just because of my dad.
ross groans, throwing his pencil on the bed.
"what's wrong?" i ask him, smearing some lip gloss on.
"i can't think of anything to write." ross complains. "i need a chorus."
"what do you have so far?" i ask him.
he grabs his notebook and positions it in front of him, he slowly begins to strum the guitar and sings what he has so far.
"every day day day
i fall for you a little more
and every night night night
i dream of you so beautiful
ye-eyevery time we laugh
i see the sparks fly
and every time you blush
i feel those butterflies
and baby how we feel
will always be in style
forever and ever...""aweh ross. that sounds amazing." i blush.
"don't worry, i'll thank you for the inspiration." he chuckles. i hum a little, trying to help him.
"how about, this." i ask, clearing my throat.
"this love is never gonna fade
we are timeless
we are timeless
my heart will never ever change
we are timeless
we are timeless
and we're gonna last."ross' jaw was gaped open and my cheeks heated up. "i know i'm not the greatest but that's just an idea—"
ross shakes his head. "no laura, y-you're an amazing singer."
"really?" i ask slightly shocked. ross nods his head.
"we should write a song together." ross grins. "would you want to?"
i nod. "of course i would."
"laura, ross, we're leaving now." my mom shouts. ross tucks his guitar back into the case i bought him, and we hurry downstairs. we get into the car and listen to the loud italian music around us.
ross and i were leaving in two days to head back to california for his audition, and i was planning on staying at his apartment until mine the week after.
"here we are. la casa del grill!" my dad smiles happily. we all get out of the car and my dad had reservations. ross looked so handsome, i forgot to tell him.
"you dressed well tonight." i chuckle.
"thank you." he grins. "you do, always."
we all took our seat and picked up our menus, i was starving. "i'm getting the lasagne."
"i'm going to get the burger with sweet potato fries." ross smiles.
"who else is coming?" i ask, looking at the empty chair next to me. "is nonna on her way?"
my dad shakes his head. "he should be here soon."
just then, i saw ross clench his fists. "laura, can i talk to you for a second in private?"
i nod, "sure."
my dad glares at me. "oh no. stay you two, he's here."
"who?" i ask, spinning my head around. my heart literally sinks to my toes, and my stomach twirls into a knot when i see jason.
"j-jason." i stutter.
"laura." he grins, his ocean blue eyes shimmering. he picks up my hand and kisses it gently. "it's been a while."
i yank my hand away, feeling tears whelm in my eyes. my mom looked just as shocked as i was and ross' nostrils were flared. vanessa taps me. "laura, what the hell is he doing here?"
i shrug my shoulders emotionless. "ask dad."
"you must be?" i glance at ross when jason fixes his jet black hair as he speaks to ross.
"laura's boyfriend, ross." he retorts.
"right." he grins, flashing his pearly white teeth. "laura, could i actually have a moment with you?"
i gulp loudly, before ross coughs. "actually i was going to speak with her."
"oh come on, ross. let the two catch up." my dad exclaims, "come and sit with us."
i look at my dad with complete hatred, and i shake my head. "i don't want to catch up. i've lost my appetite."
"laura!" ross calls out after me. i stomp away in tears, causing a scene in the restaurant. i hear my dad also shouting my name, but he's the last person i care about right now.
"baby, stop!" ross yells. i was walking towards the ocean, right out side the restaurant.
"did you know?" i ask, tears rolling down my cheeks.
"did i know what?" ross asks.
i sniffle. "that he was coming?"
ross nods. "i was going to tell you so that we could've avoided it but—"
"why didn't you tell me, ross? why didn't you tell me the second you heard it? i can't see him ross. i-i can't, i'm so scared." i sob, pulling at my strands of hair.
"hey," ross says shaking his head vigorously. "you have nothing to be afraid of when i'm with you. i was going to tell you last night when i came back up with the water but you were asleep."
"i-i can't believe my dad would do this to me." i cry. "jason hurt me!"
"shhh." ross sighs, pulling me into his arms. "he's never going to touch you again."
"aweh." i jump, and ross and i turn around to face jason walking towards us. i feel my knees begin to buckle, but i feel safer being pressed against ross' chest.
"go away!" i scream. "nobody fucking wants you here."
"laura, my love. don't say such a lie, your dad invited me." he chuckles, softly. "why are you so scared?"
"i'm not." i grind my teeth together. "i just can't stand to look at your face."
jason was starting to get closer, and that's when ross jumped in. "okay bro. back up, she doesn't want to talk to you."
he laughs in ross' face. "you're a pretty blonde. i didn't think laura was into those."
ross chuckles, stepping closer to jason's face. "maybe i'll say it nicer this time so you understand. get the fuck away from her or i'll do it myself."
jason cockily steps away, raising his hands in surrender. "relax. i wasn't going near her."
"why did you even come, jason." i ask, rolling my eyes. "i don't care if my dad invited you, you know damn well i want nothing to do with you."
jason shrugs. "i was hoping for another chance?"
i burst out in laughter. "go fuck yourself."
jason's eyes widen, but he smirks. "sorry if i ruined your night. i'll let you two be."
he walks away and i turn to ross. "what's wrong, you look so angry."
ross mutters. "i'm going to knock your fucking dad out."
