Chapter 23 - John

Oak POV

"John is it really you?" I asked in shock.

"Yeah it really is dad." John he whispered so only I could hear.

"I can't believe it. You are alive. Where have you been? Why haven't you been here looking after Gary? Why haven't been in contact? How could you have faked your death like that?"

"Calm down old man I will explain everything soon enough."

"Bu...but. Alright then."

"Sorry to interrupt this reunion but should I give Gary the medicine just yet?" Professor Elm asked.

I nodded and soon enough Gary was sitting up in confusion. He looked around frantically.

"Where are we?" He yelled.

"I dont know. Elm do you?" I sighed

"Yes. We are in the Team Rocket Base in Alola." Elm decleared.

I sat down next to Gary to try comfort him but he turned away in frustration.

"It was that blasted Meliodas. He brought us here. Why is he even part of Team Rocket anyway? He actually cares about pokemon so why would he be in an organisation that hurts them."

I shrugged and looked at John. He looked as though he was deciding something. I suddenly had a thought.

"John how come you are here?  I'm guessing this is a place for Professors but you are a trainer not a Professor so why would Team Rocket place you here?" I inquired.

"Well they tried to make me join them for years but I stood strong. I was with many other trainers but I was the only one who didn't cave in. They eventually gave up on me so I was sent here from place to place untill I finally found myself here. I guess they just needed to put me somewhere so that I couldn't escape and tell the authorites. I'm sure they will come for me soon sending their best as that was one of the things they threatened if I kept refusing to join." He revealed.

I sighed sadley. I realised that it might mean John and I were to be separated again. He was my son-in-law and it was heart breaking to see him disappear once more. It would also be heart breaking for Gary if his father had to leave him once more. 

"Yo gramps. So who is this dude anyway?" Gary asked.

I was about to answer when John interrupted.

"I've worked with your grandfather a few times in the past." He answered.

I was disapointed that John didn't reveal himself to his own son but i knew it wasn't the time or place to have that sort of reunion. Gary probably wouldn't even be able to remember him as he was only around 5 when his father went missing.  There was a few moments silence untill Elm spoke.

"I wonder if Meliodas had his death faked." He thought outloud.

"Probably. He would have had a name change too. Thats what I learnt when they were trying to force me to join." John revealed.

"I'm curious to who he used to be. For some reason he seems really familiar. It could have been someone i beat up at Primary or Secondary." Gary smirked.
