Chapter 17 - Battle 2

The next day

I woke up with a sore back after spending the night on the floor. The burn from a few years before only rarely hurt occasioanally but it was one of those time when the pain was immense. In agony i jumped up and ran to the bathroom where i stored my pain tablets.  I gulped them down in an instance without any water. I walked back into the bedroom and sat gently down on the floor. I grabbed my watch which was charging right next to where i slept. It was 9:08 AM. "Shoot i have a battle in an hour and Lillie has one in an hour and a half. I'd better wake her up." I thought.  I slowly got up and tip-toed over to my bed. Lillie was sleeping next to Lucario. They both looked adorable as they slept. I didn't want to wake them but I knew I had to. 

"Lillie, Lucario. Wakey wakey. We have our pokemon battles soon." I whispered.

Lillie slowly opened her eyes and jumped. She sat up bashing my head and looked around. It was dark but the light from the window allowed Lillie to identify her wearabout.

"Sorry. I forgot that i was in your room." She smiled

"Don't worry about it. It's not your fault." I replied.

I turned on the light. I gave Lillie some spare clothes i has: a t-shirt and some shorts. I let her change in the bathroom while I got dressed in the bedroom. After we were finished, we headed down to the resturant and ate. I took deep breaths as the pain killers hadn't kicked in yet. Not only was I in pain but I had anxiety about what happened the day before.

"Arghh that last bit of the conversation was so cringey. He must have thought I was really wierd or something. What was I thinking doing that interview. It was obvious that he was going to bring that up. Ugh I totally messed up. I wish that things could go back to how they were. Me being that shadey trainer that they dont know anything about... Wait I could do that but then I would have do the same to Lillie..." I thought.

"Hey Meliodas. You alright there?" Lillie interrupted my thoughts.

"Yeh" I Mumbled.

After we ate our breakfast we traveled to the battle field. I didn't know who I was batteling as they mixed up the opponents and dropped a few people out. We followed the same procedure as before and I put away my bag in my locker. I decided to use Persion as Lucario was lazy and still in bed even though i tried to wake him up. I went onto the field and the speakers decleared my presense.

"MELIODAS HAS ARRIVED!"

I looked around. The crowd was very large and the majority of them were cheering . I hated it. I waited on my side of the pitch. Finally my opposition arrived. She had short light brown hair and wore a red hat with a red outfit. It was May. I hadn't realised that she entered the competition. 

"AND HERE IS MAY. OKAY LETS GET THIS THING ROLLING. THIS IS A 2V2 BATTLE. THE BATTLE IS MAY, LEADER OF THE PETALBURG GYM AND ONE OF THE HIGHEST RAKING COORDINATORS IN ALL OF THE REGIONS. SHE IS FROM PETALBURG CITY IN HOENN. ON THE OTHERSIDE WE HAVE MELIODAS. YOU ALL ALREADY KNOW ABOUT HIM SO NO NEED TO INTRODUCE HIM." The speakers blasted out. "NOW LET OUT YOUR FIRST POKEMON."

I waited for May to send out her first pokemon. She sent out Blaziken and I sent out my Alolan Persion.

"LET THE BATTLE COMMENCE!" The speakers declared.
