Chapter 26 - Escape

An hour earlier (Oak POV)

I sat on my bed as I thought about how stupid we were to get in this situation. We didn't even fight back at all. But then again, there wouldn't have been much point as Meliodas was so strong. Meliodas could teleport, create flames and probably more yet I had no idea how he could do all that stuff. Normal humans wouldn't be able to do it.

All of a sudden, the metal door swung open. John was pushed through it by a crying young girl. She obviously was here against her will. She left swifty and closed the door behind her. We all stared at John. He looked as though he had walked through a war. He stumbled towards us and I held him so he wouldn't fall over. He sat down on the bed beside me.

"A...are you alright? What happened" Gary asked before I could.

"No time. Gary I need to ask you something really important. Please don't lie because I know it happened." John wheezed.

"Okay.."

"Who did you lock up in a basement for days trying to force them to give up there dream?"

Gary paused. I knew it hurt him everytime that subject was brought up. I saw he was very reluctant to answer. He took a deep breath and finally answered. "Ash..."

John's face dropped in horror. "Ash as in THE Ash. As in the one who 'died' Ash?"

I could see it was too much for Gary so I answered for him.

"Yes. It was that Ash." I said.

"But that means..." John trailed off.

"What does it mean? How did you even know in the first place? Why does it matter? Who are you to judge?" Gary yelled. He broke into tears.

I ran over to comfort him but he pushed me away.

"You have no idea what it was like to do that to him! I had no choice! I hurt the one person I looked up to, the one person I admired. The one person I l..." He trailed off. He stopped crying and stared blankly into space.

"Well in that case... I dont think I should say this but..." John hesitated. His face was in such a way that you would have thought he was doing advanced rocket science in his head. Finally he continued." Okay i'm going to tell you something which will be hard for both of you to hear."

Gary and I nodded.

"I found Ash. He is alive," He revealed softly. He looked sad as though it was'nt a good thing that he was alive. "but he isn't the sweet boy we all remember him to be. He's ... he's Meliodas.

I couldn't believe it. How could such a cruel person like Meliodas be Ash? I saw that Gary was shocked and as was Elm. He hadn't been imputting to the conversation but he had been listening in.

All of a sudden Meliodas teleported in. I realised it made so much sense. How could a normal human use such great powers? I didn't know how i didn't see it before. We all stared at him for a few minutes; not saying a word. Then he finally said something.

"You're not getting out of here." He stated in a cold and icy voice. I could tell that he knew we knew yet I wasn't sure if he knew we knew that he knew we knew. Either way, I saw a glint of anger in his eyes. I was about to say something but he teleported away.
