I found something today.
Despite my cold, dead heart
I found a bit of light there.
Think of it as a spark. My heart had long since died
Due to the horrors of today.
Chaos, hardship, guilt, and burn marks
Left the poor thing in dismay. But I found a fire still lit,
Though flickering weakly.
It still burned in its cave
As if, from the outside, it was breezy. This cave however is crusted over.
The outside looks like a monster.
People say that creatures live here
So for safety they dare not to wander. But seeing this light made me think
Of something from long ago.
It reminded me of the cave itself
When the harsh tide was low.Actually it wasn't even a cave.
It was my small but cozy home.
However when the tide came in
The gunk crusted over like a dome. And here I am, a cave dweller,
Skin now pale from lack of sun,
Seeing this tiny light
And hoping it expands by a ton.
