(A poem about Marvin the Magnificent. Prompt submitted by Anon on Tumblr. Also, I tried.)

If you see the stars
And you see them in his eye
As he watches the skies
For two either reasons:

The gears in his head
Are ever so turning
His mind burning
With spells to try out.

Or it's a calm night
Seeing the stars gleam.
As he looks, he sees
The beauty in them.

These can combine though,
When a certain spell
Requires him to tell
When to start.

The joy he gets
When a spell goes right,
Or how he shows his might
When it goes sour.

He tries his best to improve.
And despite the days
When nothing goes his way,
He still tries again.

If you see the stars
While looking in his eyes,
You'll then see why.
His determination to learn.
