Tallahasse, Florida

Life in Florida was not so easy as they thought it would be. They got a small apartment but it was difficult to fit in, Kaia's pregnancy was beginning to show and Leia could not keave her on her own but they still needed a means to survive. They had to be very careful with the diamonds, it could raise questions and put them in a dicey situation, Leia suggested they blend in with the people of the community and that was going well till a neighbour approached Leia once and said

'Your sister. she is pregnant right, I don't see any guys come to visit though, and your parents, did you ran away from home?"

Leia was so scared to speak.

"Why didn't people mind their own damn business.

"No we did not ran away, we are orphans who got kicked out of the orphanage because we are both above eighteen, now as to Kaia's pregnancy, I really don't see how that is your business, I'm sorry but you would have to excuse me"

After that incident, everyone in the neighbourhood looked at them differently. That night Leia and Kaia had a long talk that almost turned into an argument.

"You would have to give the baby up for adoption Kaia, none of us is ready to take care of a baby, we are still struggling to survive out here and a baby is not going to help the situation"

But Kaia wouldn't hear of it.

"I am not giving up my baby Leia and that is final!"

Kaia locked herself up in her room and didn't come out till Leia had left the following day looking for a job.

Leia spent the whole day looking for a school they could both enroll in and soon found one but she needed to provide them with information she did not have, sinking in the possibility that they might not take her she walked into a diner, took a seat and allowed herself to think. She took out the cell phone Will had given her and began to surf the net. That was when she came across an article that stated how a Supreme Court had ruled in a case titled Plyer vs. Doe that undocumented immigrants and young adults have the same right to attend public schools.

"This is it!" She stood.

"They have no right to deny us education"

She picked a cab and when the driver asked where she was going to she said one thing,

"Take me to the Attorney General's office"

Walking into the building dressed in a long red skirt and cashmere sweater, she felt so out of place among the smart looking women and men in pant suits and coloured blazers. Everyone's fashion sense was spiking hot, all except hers. She stood right there at the entrace looking around not sure of what to do next. No one seemed to take much interest in her except casting a few cursory gazes but none found courage enough to walk up to her and ask what she was doing there so she figured she had to do the walking up to somebody.

"Excuse me" She found a pretty blonde lady in designer glasses. Her suit and pencil skirt were both so perfectly fitted she looked like a zara model.

"Yes?" She called her attention back.

"Um, sorry, can you help me find the attorney generals office please"

"The Attorney General" She repeated with a look that said 'is she even listening to herself?'

Leia ignored and nodded.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"Um, no please"

"I'm sorry then you cant see her, she has a pretty tight schedule" The lady said.

"Oh, okay, umm, so who do I see to make an appointment"

The lady looked at her again, this time from head to toe.

"See her secretary, she could help" She said and without wasting any more time, she walked away.

"Um, wait, where do I find....." Leia called back but her heels were already singing their way across the tiled floor.

Leia admired her shoes, they were pretty and she wondered if she would ever own a pair.

Leia scanned around the hall for someone she could approach and soon found one,
a gentleman, he was speaking with a lady in palazzo pants and a pink blazer. She walked up to him without even thinking.

Excuse me, Hi, can you please help me find the Attorney General's secretary"

"I am her Personal Assistant, how may I help you" The lady said.

"Oh" She turned from the gentleman to face the lady.

"Thank goodness, I need to see her urgently but I was told I need to have an appointment, can you help me out"

"Umm.....sorry but she is not free till the next eight days"

"Eight days?, I don't have eight days"

"Well you cant see her till after those eight days" The pink lady said.

"Hold up Sally, that's not so nice, maybe I can help" The man said looking down at her.

He was so tall and his features were perfect. Square shaped jaws, perfect chin, perfect blue eyes and perfetly trimmed hair, his outlook just defined perfect.

She forced herself to not give in to her hormones.

"Umm, okay, I would....would love that" She swallowed hard.

He smiled.

"I'm her son, I can get you to see my mom"

"Your mother is the attorney general?" Leia had to ask.

"We aren't done here Clay" Pink lady said.

"I'll call you" Clay said and took Leia's hand to her surprise and pulled her aside.

"So what's so urgent that can't wait till after eight days?"

" I need to go to school" She answered and Clay had to blink several times and allow his brain to process the statement without even breathing to interrupt his thoughts.

"What is stopping you?"

"I am an immigrant and the school I wanted to enroll in would not enroll me but see, I foun dan article that states that immigrants have equal rights to education and I demand that my sister and I get enrolled" She said and Clay just had to stare. Then he giggled.

"Wait a minute, you are saying someone is stopping you from going to school.....in this age?"

"How do you mean....do you insinuate that is impossible?" Leia asked.

"Hell yeah....this is America, we beg people to go to school for crying out loud." He laughed.

"Really?' She said naively.

"Tell me...what is the name?"

"Leia"

"Nice to meet you Leia but I must say I have never seen anyone so eager and desperate to go to school that they would come over to the attorney general's office" He giggled again.

"Sorry but...wow, you are intriguing"

"What is so funny?" Leia was not amused.

"I apologize, forgive me, don't worry I will talk to my mother and we will get you into school"

"Promise?" Leia asked. Her question surprised him but he smiled and answered anyway touching her shoulders with both hands.

"I promise, here is my card, give me a call tomorrow at 4, I am sure I would have good news for you"

She beamed.

"Thanks so much, I really appreciate it" She clasped both her hands together and gave a little bow then she looked up and smiled and then walked away.

"Did she just bow?" He whispered to himself, then he smiled as he watched her walk away, her red skirt swaying. His final words were

"Wow"
