Present times, Las Vegas
Leia had the rest of the day off. She was not surprised to see Dave and Kaia walk in with ice cream and a box of pizza.
"Ot was Dave's idea" Kaia pointed at him.
"We thought you might be too tired to get some food so we did the honours"
"Gee thanks, you were right though, you guys are the best but what happened to your arm Kaia?"
"Glass"
"Holy Moses was it that serious, Kaia you told me it was a little fight when I called"
"It was a little fight" She defended herself.
"And you said no one got hurt"
"Well no one did except me, chill already you are beginning to get that grim reaper look"
Dave laughed.
Leia's phone began to vibrate. She picked it up stared at it for a while and then she excused herself and walked out.
"Is she always so secretive"
"Trust me there are a billion secrets about Leia even I don't know"
Leia rushed into her room, shut the door and called back since the call had ended.
"Hello, a tiny voice came on and immediately she herad that voice tears welled up in her eyes.
"Mom?"
"Clayton?"
"Yes mom, it's me, I can't talk for long, granny wouldn’t let me"
"I understand, I'm so glad you called"
"Me too, its so good to hear your voice, you need to come take me out of this place mom, I want to be with you"
"I will baby but now I wouldn’t stand a chance against your grandmother, you just need ti be strong for me okay"
"I'm trying mom"
"Try harder baby, how is school, still making A's?"
"Yea, granny says she wants me to be a lawyaer like her and dad but I want to be a doctor like you"
Teras streamed down Leia's face, she wiped it and then she sniffed.
"Listen to me baby, you are going to become who you want to be and no one not even your garndmother will manipulate you into doing what she wants, I swear it"
"I miss you mom"
"I miss you too baby, are you still being bullied?"
"No, the granny sorted it out but I still get to be called names because of my skin, people say I am neither black nor white, it sorta kinda makes me feel lost"
"Black or white, that doesn’t matter, I am neither black nor white either, always remember that what comes first is the Spirit within and not the colour outside, okay"
"Okay mom"
"Good" Leia smiled nad then she wiped a few more tears.
"I have to go now, I'll call you when I can"
"Okay love, take care, I love you so so so so so much"
"I love you too mom, take care, bye" Clayton said and hang up. Leia dropped the phone on the ebd beside her, picked up her pillow hugged it and cried some more then she walked into the bathroom washed her face and joined the others out.
"What took you so long?"
"Ummm, personal issues" Leia walked to the ice cream, picked a cup, opened it and began to scoop.
"Tell her" Dave whispered but Leia turned at the right time to catch him urge Kaia on.
"Tell me what?" She said with a mouth full of cold ice cream.
"I quit my job"
"What?"
"Yep, that place is too crazy for me"
"You quit?, you don't do that Kaia"
"Well I screamed at my boss and threw a glass at him I just thought it was honourable for me to quit before I got fired, I mean it sounds better when I say it like this than 'I got fired'"
"Good thing is……"
"Oh yeah I got another job, at the ice cream shop"
"So this is some sort of welcome kit or something?" Leia referred to the ice cream.
"I bought that actually but Kaia earned an extra cup for being so admirable, everyone fell in love with her, she is a natural"
"Not you too Dave"
"What did I do, I'm only encouraging her"
"To throw glasses at her boss and then quit and jump off to another job?"
"Hey relax" David jumped in before she got too emotional and lost it. Leia placed the cup down and sighed. Then she sat down.
"What is it, is there something bothering you?"
"I'm sorry, I guess I am a bit stressed out that's all"
"You need to dance" Kaia said.
"What?" Leia had to laugh.
"Dave take her to the club, yall need to breathe and talk"
"Leia never talks" Dave said and Leia gave him a long stare then she looked to the ground.
"I'm going to bed" She stood and headed towards her room but Kaia jumped unto the couch and across unto her path to stop her.
"No you arent, you are free tomorrow so that means you get to chill tonight and still get to sleep"
"You are mad, this I am convinced of now more than ever" Leia laughed.
Kaia pushed her to Dave so hard that she hit into his chest and he grabbed her on reflex to stable them both.
'See….he is a natural" Kaia clapped her hands together and stuck her tongue out at Leia who broke away immediately and shot her a look.
Kaia pushed them both out and locked the door then screamed from behind.
"Have fun!"
"Kaia open the damn door I am in my pajamas"
Leia screamed but Kaia ignored her.
Dave giggled.
"I cant go to the club like this, I cant go anywhere like this"
"Then we go somewhere else, come, I'll take you someplace you will love"
"I hope this time we wouldn’t have to climb hills and mountains"
Leia giggled and so did Dave.
"No we wouldn’t"
