Everyone was anxious. It had been an hour already and Kaia could not help but bite her nails and pace.
"Kaia will you sit down please"
"We need to get there" She said and Jamal gave her his best attempt at an 'Are you crazy' look?
"No one is going anywhere"
"She's not answering her calls she could be in trouble"
"Guys…..who needs the phone when we have CNN?"
Ruth said.
"She's right, check the news" Dante said as he took a long drink of water from his bottlr. He was obviously drenched in sweat, the neckline of his shirt was prove of how tensed he was although he tried to remain the calmest person in the room.
Jamal turned the TV on and scanned for the news channels but there was nothing there.
"Maybe we should wait a while….." Kaia said.
"Oh boy, this is bad, I don't like this, I really don't like this, at all" Jamal took off the spectacles he wore, pressed his eyelids together to try to relieve them of the pain.
"Keep trying her phone….."
"Stop right here" Jazmine stopped the driver, she wondered if he had heard anything. But at this moment she could not trust anyone.
Jazmine stepped out of the car and unto the streets of the market place. She said nothing to the driver and walked away, pulling her veil over her hair and throwing it over her shoulders. Jazmine scanned around for what she was looking for, Jael's house. Her heart racing, uncertain if anyone made it alive, she saw a crowd gather and she drew closer only to realize they were drawn towards the sound of a television, a reporter, reporting on the most revolting news.
"………as you can see, there is nothing left of Sheik Aamir's palace, the rescue team behind us are still searching for bodies, so far, there have been quite a number of casualties, the bodies, being taken away for identification, there is however no news on the Sheik nor his family, we can only be hopeful they made it out alive before the attack. For now, we cannot say who is responsible for this, but the King would be addressing the state on this issue in a few minutes…"
"Oh my God" Jazmine's hand rose to her lips, she was shaking.
"Was I too late?" She thought. she was worried about all the good people in there, once again, being victims of the Sheik's ruthlessness.
She turned to walk away while everyone was still glued to the TV, before anyone could identify her but someone did, grabbing her arm.
She turned, it was Aamir.
"Aamir?"
"Come" He simply said and led her away quickly through the small alleys and through bildinhs and onto the streets and into another building. He led her to an underground room in the building, it was small but when she saw Jael and Casmir, she was glad at least to see them.
"Thank God you are alive" Casmir said.
"You made it out, who else is alive?" Jazmine said anxiously.
He frowned.
"You knew about this?"
He asked.
"Yes…..fortunately I was able to get Khalid tow arn him right before my phone died.
"Did you do this?" Casmir asked.
"Are you kidding me, for crying out loud why would I kill all those innocent people, yes I would give anything to attend the Sheik's funeral but not at the cost of innocent lives, not even a single one" Jazmine said, her voice shaking her eyes tearing up, from anger, and anxiety and shock.
