Leia stood outside waiting on Brendan. He had delayed and she found herself feeling frustrated. She stared at her watch the umpteenth time and sighed.
"Waiting on someone?" She looked to her left.
It was Khalid.
"My Chauffeur" Leia simply said.
"I could give you a ride"
"I appreciate that but I am fine"
"You sure?"
She nodded with a smile trying to stay composed. He smiled back.
"I'll wait with you then"
Leia looked up at him.
"I really don't think that is necessary"
"I insist" He said with his smile. The light falling over his shoulders and dark hair. She could swear his eyes sparkled. He was so handsome and she wondered if there were any traits of his father in him.
"Which part of Morocco do you come from?"
"Sefrou"
'Sefrou" He repeated with a frown.
"Have you ever been to Sefrou?"
"A couple of times" He replied.
"Campaigning I guess"
"Not really, the people there do not really welcome my presence"
"Why is that?"
"Lets just say individual differences"
"I think it’s a bit deeper than that if it’s the people who do not welcome you"
"You have a point" He said and looked away.
"I have never been to Sefrou" She said.
"Really"
"Yea, I probably did visit with my father once, maybe when I was a kid but I do not have any fond memories of Morocco"
"You would love it there" He said with a smile.
"I'm sure I will" Leia smiled and rubbed her arms.
"We should go inside" He must have noticed she was cold.
"Yes I think we should" She said and he ushered her in, following. There were still guests inside. There was no sign of Sid nor his father but his mother was still chatting with a couple of people.
Together they walked around stopping at an artwork they thought was mesmerizing.
"I have loved art since I was a kid, I used to paint myself"
"You did?"
"Yes, one of my hobbies, I was a pretty weird kid, the kind who picked up pebbles for keepsakes, you know, I still do that, gathering stuff. I even used to do that with my toothbrushes, with postcards and stamps, I cling to things. My father saw that as a weakness and decided to get me into a boarding school in the UK to break old habits"
"That was mean"
"Yeah, my dad is mean" He chuckled.
"He is a difficult man to please" Leia found herself hating the man all over again.
She thought of Ruth, how close was she to him?
"Do you have any siblings? Leia asked.
"A half sister, I hardly knew her but my father, he adored her but she was abducted, kidnapped, and she is the reason my father is sick"
