Like Dave had said he caught the afternoon flight to New York and arrived at Leia's apartment at exactly two. He rang the bell balancing his back pack on his shoulders.
"Coming" Leia said from inside.
Within a few minutes he heared the lock click from the inside and the door opened and there she was.
"Hey" She spread her arms around his neck and hugged him.
"Gosh I missed doing this" He tightened the hug.
"I'm glad you came, come on in" Leia ushered him in.
"Wow, Jamal did good with this place"
"Yeah he did, like it?"
"Its pretty cool" Dre rushed to Dave's feet and began jumping for attention and barking.
"Look at you, ain't you cute?" Dave picked him up.
"He likes you" Leia said.
Dre licked him on the face.
"I'm actually allergic to dogs"
"Dre is a hypoallergenic breed so you are safe"
"That explains why I'm not sneezing all over the place right now"
He giggled and Leia did something that caught him off guard. She wrapped her arms around his waist and placed her ear against his chest.
"Okay who are you and what did you do to Leia" Dave said and she punched him in the arm.
"I miss you, and Kaia too"
"She misses you too but thankfully she has someone to keep her company. Kevin is a pretty nice guy, you'd like him"
"I'm glad she is happy" Leia walked to the fridge, took out a can of soda and a bottle of beer, handed the beer to Dave and opened her soda.
They talked for hours and Dave suggested they make the most of the day. They decided to have dinner out but first they took a walk.Leia had to call Sid to cancel their appointment coming up with an excuse.
Dave was familiar with the streets of New York, with a leash on Dre, he led her on the side walk her fingers interlocked with his, anyone could mistake them for a couple. Chatting and laughing and occasionally pointing out something in a shop, they found themselves stopping at a jewellery shop.
"Let's check it out" Leia suggested.
They walked in and began to look through and admire stuff. Leia spotted a silver necklace that looked like a heart with a key hole, with it came a bracelet with a key locket. She picked it up.
Dave was staring at something else in a case.
She walked to the cashier and paid for it with her credit card. Dave walked up to her with a bracelet with pink diamonds. He put it on her.
"Gosh Dave, this is beautiful"
"Perfect for a woman like you" He said.
"You know you have to pay for that before you put it on me" Leia said with a giggle.
"Lets just run off" Dave said.
"Are you sure you can pay for that?"
"I actually do not know how much I even have on my credit card" He said and she laughed.
Then taking her hand and pulling Dre along, they walked to the cashier and he paid.
"Good thing I didn't hear, not enough funds"
He said.
"You are crazy, thank you, I love it"
"My pleasure" He said smiling down at her.
They walked out again and arrived at a diner. They ordered and began eating.
They spoke for long, even after eating they just sat there chatting a waiter had to come and alert them they were closing yp. They looked round and realized indeed they were the only ones left.
They paid and walked out again. Tired they decided to take a cab back
