Nightmare Quest (Book 3)

A couple of hours pass and I can't take being in this house anymore. I swear I got to have some serious paranoia issues because I feel like anyone could come attack us right now. I grab the curtains and pull them back a little bit, and I peek out of the window in the living room. Thankfully I see that the sun is slowly beginning to set. I walk into the kitchen "Hey guys the sun's setting, we should get going."

Essix gets up from the chair she's sitting in and looks around "Alright. Everyone should be set to leave."

Everyone moves into the living room and I'm about to reach for the doorknob when I hear a knock on the door. I freeze and look out of the peephole in the door; outside standing on the doorstep is the captain of the Sandtown police force. "Crap, well we're not going out the front door." I say.

"Someone must have recognized us when we landed and reported us." Briggan says.

"I knew landing smack dab in the middle of Sandtown was a bad idea." I say.

Another knock on the door. "This is the Sandtown police force; we know you're in there so just come out and it will make your lives a whole lot easier!"

Tiny scoots closer to Essix "I don't wanna go to jail."

Essix reaches down and pats Tiny's head "Don't worry buddy we're not going to jail."

"Yeah we are; there's no other way out of this place!" Star exclaims.

An idea pops into my head at that moment. I open my mouth and me and Briggan both say the same thing. "The hatch."

"Come on follow us." Briggan says.

We stop at a spot in the hallway between mine and Briggan's old bedrooms and I reach up and pull down a rope ladder from a spot on what appears to be the ceiling, but when you push a certain spot a hatch to the roof opens up. I put a finger to my lips and then start climbing up the ladder; once I'm on top, I motion for everyone to come up. Just as Briggan comes up, I hear a loud crash and I know that they knocked the door down and are searching the house for us. I look at everyone with an urgent expression on my face "We gotta get out of here now."

I look down through the open hatch and see that they started to see that we had escaped. "Tiny did you happen to bring one of your smoke bombs along?"

Tiny rummages through his pouch and pulls out a small black ball. "Yep, never leave home without one."

I take it and throw it down into the hatch and close the door. "Alright let's go!"

Everyone spreads their wings and we quickly fly away from Sandtown. As we're flying away I feel the strange urge to go back and kill all of them, but I shake my head and clear my thoughts. I am not going to let some evil rock make me violent. Not again.

I hope you guys liked the chapter! I thought that maybe running from the police would be something fun and entertaining, I mean it is on tv why not put it in my book?
