Jen's POV

*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

"Jesus..." I mumbled. It was barely Thursday of the first week and I was already thinking about graduation.

"Date prisa y levántate, tú papá quiere hablar contigo." My mom said. Oh no this is about work, I quickly got up getting ready for school. I'm black ripped jeans, an olive green shirt, and black vans. Yeah I'm basic, I know, bite me. {Translation: Hurry and get up, your dad wants to talk to you.}

My parents own their own company. It provides a banquet hall and catering. I'm the one who designs the banquet and takes care of all the food.

I went downstairs seeing Jess and my dad waiting for me, of course to talk about the next dinner most likely.

"Alright ladies, this is what we got next. We have a big dinner coming up for this big corporation. It's tomorrow, you guys have to miss school today to set up for it, I'm putting you both in charge of this..." he pauses pulling out his wallet "The man who requested this party wants you both to be dressed in elegant long dresses, he wants an elegant and sophisticated theme." He looks at us making sure we have taken everything in.

"Don't worry papa, we got this. We'll prepare for today and go buy our dresses." I knew Jess was stressing because she is usually never in charge, only me, but it's time for her to know the family business as well.

My dad gets up to leave and call the school to let them know that we were going to be absent. I look over to see Jess texting Noah to let him know we were going to be gone.

"Jess c'mon we have to go to the mall and look at the dresses. Wait hold on did he say which facility it was?" She shook her head and I run to the garage before my dad leaves.

"Papa which facility is this going to be in?"

"In Beverly Hills, Building A. I'll text the staff that tomorrow is a big day, you got this mija, you always do." He kisses my forehead. He leaves to go to a meeting with the man in charge of this party. I go back inside to let Jess know that moves for today.

"We're gonna go to the mall to pick out our dresses, then we'll go to the facility in Beverly Hills."

"Thank god it's only 20 minutes away, you know how I get sick."

"Yeah yeah I know."

We went to my car and we were on our way to the mall. Jess connected her phone and played the song 'Weekend' by SZA. She was singing her heart out while I just laughed. We had finally made it to the mall and started our adventure.

*Skip to the facility in Beverly Hills*

We finally made it to the building and ideas were already coming to mind. We took one of the carts to a storage room to pull out the supplies we needed. As I was picking up some black curtains for the entrance my phone buzzed.

Shawn❤️: Hey Jen where are you? Didn't see you in first today or at all

Me: Are you worried about me Shawn?

I smiled knowing he actually noticed I was gone for the day.

"Why are you so smiley at your phone?" Jess smirks.

"Just get back to getting the stuff together I'm gonna make a quick call."

"Tell Shawn I said Hi!" She yells as I left the storage room.

I call Shawn and he picks up after 2 rings.

"Hello." He says in his low voice.

"So what I'm reading is you miss me?" He chuckles.

"Whatever... where are you anyways?" I smile and blush.

"I'm working. We have a big dinner tomorrow and we have to prepare for it all. I know you miss me, everyone always does." He laughs, oh how adorable he is... oh no.

"You work? Since when?"

"Since I was 13, I almost never miss school for work, but this is a huge dinner for my family so here I am... no Jess not this it's the other jars!" I yell as she shows me what jars we should use for the candy bar.

"You sound pretty busy so I'll let you be. Talk to you later."

"Yeah talk to you later... bye." I smile down at my phone, just to see Jess leaning against the doorway smirking at me.

"How cute, young love." I roll my eyes playfully.

"Oh shut up." I push her back lightly into the storage room to keep getting the supplies.

Shawn's POV

"Kids your father has something to tell you guys." My mom said looking at my dad, I hope this isn't bad news.

"Yes, thank you honey. We have an important banquet tomorrow, which means you have to attend. Aaliyah, your mother bought you a dress today and Shawn I have a all black solid tux for you in your closet."

"What exactly is the point of this banquet?"

"A simple celebration for another year well done, please behave tomorrow." I really didn't want to go to this banquet, my dad has a business partner whose daughter doesn't seem to get that I'm not interested.

I finish up my dinner and put my dirty plate in the sink, walking upstairs. I wanted to talk with Jen so I FaceTimed her. She answers after one ring.

"Hey." She smiles. It looks like she's doing homework, but she didn't even go to school today? She also had on glasses and let me tell you she looked hot.

"Hey... why are you doing homework?" I say sitting on my desk chair spinning around.

"It's not homework, it's my work book for all the parties we have."

"Oh... okay." She looks up and chuckles. I keep looking at her and I come to find nothing wrong with her, not one thing that could be so bad about her. Her door opens and you can see her mom look at what she's doing. She gets closer and starts talking.

"Mija como va todo?" She waves at me and I wave back. She looks down looking at the book closer and giving Jen a thumbs up.

"Mama Alma todavía viene esta noche?" I can never got enough of her speaking Spanish.

"Si she's on her way." Jen nods and her mom leaves her room.

"So why'd you call?"

"What? I can't call you to see how you are?"

"You can. Well I'm doing fine... how are you?"

"I'm doing just great.." We just keep talking even when Alma gets there and she introduces us to each other. Finally it gets late and it's time for us both to go to sleep.

I couldn't stop thinking about her... yeah they call me the bad boy, but it isn't because I hook up with girls... it's because of boxing. I've actually only ever been with one girl back in Canada, but that obviously didn't work out.

Yes, there have been girls who throw themselves at me, but I never had any interest in them. Only her...
