Jen's POV

*After the Dinner*

Everyone was relaxing and eating their food after we cleaned everything up. The dinner was successful and I managed to keep my dress clean.

Shawn still hasn't spoke to me after I saw him and Geoff talking. I mean did I do something wrong? No, at least I don't think I did.

I walked outside the kitchen for the second time today to clear my mind only to see Shawn, sitting there with his head in his hands.

It hurt knowing that he is going through something alone, I wanted to be there for him like how he's always there for me. I walked over and sat next to him, just sitting there waiting until he was ready to speak to me.

He let out a big sigh and I began rubbing his back, to make sure he knew that I'm here for him. He kept his head down, but his hand reached over waiting for me to give him my hand. I did, almost immediately.

He looked at me, his eyes were red, it seemed like he was crying. That just made my heart break even more. I grabbed his head and put it close to my chest, he needed to feel safe.

We stayed in that position for what felt like the longest, I didn't mind though, it was comfortable.

"What can I do to make this better Shawn?" I was running my fingers through his hair, basically everything to make him feel like he was safe with me.

"You would never look at me the same, but I have to tell you. You have to hear it from me, my side." What is he talking about?

"Shawn what are you talking about?" I lift his head up to have a better look at him.

"I've always told you that when I box, I box with caution, making sure that I don't do any severe damage. I wasn't always like that though."

"Shawn please don't tell me you killed someone." I was confused and scared by what his answer would be, but I trusted him.

"What? Oh god no! But I have done some real damage to someone." He looks down.

"What did you do?"

"It was last year and I was in a bad place. I took a lot of my anger out in boxing, I was reckless and didn't care about who got hurt. I was in a match with a guy named Daniel Juarez, he was good, but I knew I could beat him. That same night, I got into a huge fight with my parents, they basically kicked me out and I was angry that my own parents would throw their kid out on the streets not giving a fuck about what could happen to him!" He was getting angry so I grabbed his hands to calm him down.

"It's okay Shawn, you're okay. Please continue." I was still holding his hands and I didn't plan on letting go anytime soon.

"I went to the boxing match and I was ready to let out all that anger, which I did. We were fighting and he was down, I had already won the match, but I still had so much anger so I kept going at him. Ignoring the world, ignoring his cry begging me to stop, everything... Are you sure you want to hear more?"

I nod. I needed to know what he did, not to judge him or anything, but to be there as his support. You could see he regretted his mistake, he knew his wrongs and rights.

"I put him in a coma, it wasn't until Geoff and John pulled me away that I stopped. I saw all the damage I caused to this one guy, who had nothing to do with my problems. He woke up six months later with amnesia, but it's still so fucked up thinking about it. I took a man away from his family, friends, and life because I was having a shitty day. I'm a monster!" He screamed and got up.

He began pacing back and forth, running his hands through his hair.

"You're not a monster Shawn, you're human. We all make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes come at a great cost, but we have to make these mistakes in order to better ourselves."

"Mistakes shouldn't take away people's time with families Jennifer! What I did was way out of line." He sat, still running his hands through his hair.

"Is that why they call you the bad boy?" I never knew why they called him that, he never caused trouble at school.

"They call me the bad boy because they're afraid of me... of what I can do to them." He looks at me.

"Oh." That's all I could say because in reality, Shawn isn't this intimidating, hot badass. He's a sweetheart, loving, and amazing. Still hot, but you know more of a sweetie.

"Are you afraid of the bad boy?" He wanted reassurance that I trusted him and I do.

"No."

"You should be." He looks away. I swear he can be hot without even trying.

"Shawn, no matter how intimidating you may look, you're an absolute sweetheart. Plus this is coming from a girl who thought you were so rude and ignorant." I laugh and he laughs with me.

We look at each other and he was just staring at me for a while, I was definitely feeling insecure.

"You having fun?" I laugh looking at him again.

"How in the world did I, Shawn Mendes, get lucky with you Jennifer Martinez?" He caressed my cheek.

"The world may never know." I said very quietly.

We begin leaning in until he crashed his lips with mine. It felt so right kissing him. He pulled me by my waist, putting me on his lap. We pulled away breathless.

"I still can't believe you're my boyfriend." I smile widely.

"Oh baby I cant believe you're my girlfriend, you're too good for me." I laugh and nudge him.

"Oh shut up."

The rest of the night went perfect. He actually stayed the night! That's big considering my family is super strict and overprotective. Life couldn't get any better. He couldn't be any better.
