KITANA:
Bouncing from hotel to motel, back to hotel, really wasn't what you'd expect from Indigo-Warriors, but there you have it. Diana, Brooklyn and i literally bounced from hotel to motel and back, gathering rumor, suspicion, idea on where Indigos might be. Three weeks after the Symbol fell, found us in April, sitting in a bar with the trail we'd left behind. We were in the lonely state of Virginia, having traveled here three days ago. I remembered speaking to Wenzi, Wenzi and her two Leaders, Vera and Alexandra. "Meet me back in Virginia, there are several Indigo who need rescuing, several who need our help there." The unspoken words were there, "Several I left behind, several who might already be dead. But we need your help." That was a week ago in the Communal Plain. Now, we waited in the bar for better or worse, waiting for Wenzi, or the Keepers, who ever came first. That was another thing, Huntor wanted to lay the first strike against them in their home mountain that we found months ago. Months ago, and now, now with just Diana, Brooklyn and I he wanted us to strike against them. "Nothing too dramatic." He said. "Just enough to worry them, enough to rile them up, to piss them off." And so, we waited, for either Wenzi or—"There." Brooklyn said spotting Wenzi as she and her two walked in. Wenzi held her head high as her two, Vera and Alexandra, eyed every body in the place, then made their way over to us.
We rose and walked towards her and her Leaders. "Ready?" She asked. I nodded and held out my hands. We all linked fingers and before I used the shadows a waitress came over. "What are you doing, come sit, you're making a scene." As we wanted. "The Indigo have business to handle. So, if you'll excuse us." Diana said, rather haughtily, very good. The waitress's face went pale and she staggered back. "You, you, you can't." Without another word, I wrapped the shadows around us, and we vanished and appeared a few blocks down from the bar. Three black cars were already speeding by, with the Keeper's logo on their driver doors. Alexandra asked, "Are we sure about this? This could turn south really fast." "We stick to the plan." I said. Diana aimed an arrow, then fired. The second car spun, one of it's wheels popped. Diana shot two other wheels, then two on another car, then we were moving through the traffic as people screamed and tried to get out of the way of fire, but the deed was done. the two cars crashed into each other, but the Keepers already jumped out and were shooting their gaze across the streets. Vera made eye contact with one, just as we'd planned and he signaled to his fellows. They rushed through the street, aiming for Vera. Brooklyn split from us and I saw her hand drift for her sword. I was iching for my own fans, ready to feel them in my grip, but I waited as the Keepers circled Vera and pulled out black, not silver, handcuffs. Vera flinched as she saw them and I could almost hear her words, "Hurry up guys, seriously." But as we planned she was cuffed and stashed in the third car. I waited as Diana aimed, and shot three arrows. The final car bounced as the tires were taken out. I saw Vera's face and had to figure the pale face and terrified look wasn't faked. Brooklyn ran through with Alexandra, causing a huge scene as they made their way to Vera. The Keepers came out, surrounding the car and calling for backup. One Keeper was with Vera, just one. I threw myself through the crowd and jumped a speeding car. Now I pulled my iron fans out, now I allowed my Indigoism to rise and smashed through the back window, shielding Vera from the flying glass. I reached in and pulled her out. With my telekinesis, I yanked the keys from the fallen Keeper.
We landed on our backs in the middle of the street. I allowed Vera to fall over me so I could take most of the heat as I landed on pavement. Vera rolled and stood with her hands still behind her. She lashed out with two frontsnaps that sent her Keeper flying back. "Arms out." I yelled as chaos took the block. She held out her arms behind her and I pulled one of my swords, but Brooklyn appeared, slashing at the chains. "It won't work, it's that damning shit isn't it?" Vera demanded. Yes, yes there was fear in her as we hurried Brooklyn. But Brooklyn's face was filled with determination and her blade glowed with green light. She screamed and brought it down. "CRACK." The break of the chains could have been felt through the core of the world. My mouth fell open as Brooklyn smiled, then collapsed, unconscious, to the pavement. Diana brezzed in, lifted her, and vanished in a flash of silver light. I threw myself at Vera and took us both to the ground as darts flew over our heads. We rolled under a car as more Keepers appeared and people paniced, the streets already blocked off. "What do we do?" Vera yelled. "We're pinned down." "Like hell we are." I said. I grabbed her shoulders and pulled us into shadows. No destination in mind, just wanting to get away. We appeared on one side of the block, the Keepers focused on the car we were under. I turned and saw Diana and Brooklyn appear next to us. "Come on." Diana said, "She's already half way there." I followed them as we ran for six blocks. I half expected Vera to give out, half expected her to be winded, but she held her own and kept up with us.
"Now what?" Vera asked. "Now we keep running, allow them to follow us, keep their attention as Wenzi makes it to her, to your school to get whoever she can." Vera nodded and kept running. Soon, I heard the sound of police cars and caught the lights on the edge of my vision. "We can't outrun them forever sister, we'll have to make our stand or meet up with her." There was the sound of gunfire and people screamed. "Shit, ain't that a way to bate the Indigo." Brooklyn asked, then, "Come on. We gotta fight here." She planted her feet on a grass island that separated traffic, one going North, the other South. I opened my fans and allowed my Indigo power to roar through. Three cars were speeding in our direction. Instead of ripping them apart with telekinesis, we allowed them to come closer. "Uh, Kitana." Vera said. "It would be appreciated if you'd like." She waved her wrists. "Oh right." I pulled the keys from my pocket and unlocked her cuffs. Vera took a deep breath and her palms glowed with her signature color. Then they were upon us. A car flew passed and the cop shot off several bullets. I raised my palm and telekinesis rose, blocking them. Another car came over and this one stopped, six cops jumping out. 'Block the exits." One yelled in a walkie. "We got them." Another shouted. I heard the beat of copter blades. "Shit Wenzi, where's your God damn signal." As if she heard, there was a blast of fire that roared for the sky high above. "That's our queue." I said. diana grabbed Brooklyn's arm and they vanished into silver. I in turn grabbed Vera and said, "This isn't over, you may have found us, but in doing so, you made the biggest mistake of your damning lives." We ran across the street and ducked into the shadows of a tree. I pulled and we were out of their sight. I ran with Vera and we flew through time and space, everything a blue of grays, whites, and blacks.
