SARAH:
Everything was ready, everyone knew what the plan was. Huntor, Camille, Alexandra and I would head out to sea to intercept the twins before they hit the Eastern shore. Hopefully, we'd be able to convince the twins to not act on whatever plans the goddess who inhabited them had in mind. Hopefully, we'd be able to destroy the part. Of themselves the goddess controlled, like Khione had tried to do to me. That night, at sunset, we'd move, and by dawn, for better or worse, the hurricane would be here. For better or worse, the dawn would rise and we'd have won, or lost. All through out the day we plotted, we planned, looked at every downfall, every mistake, every possibility, so that when sunset came, we were as ready as we'd ever be. So that when w walked onto those shores, with the heavy clouds overhead blocking out the sun, we were ready for what would come. Huntor stood a few yards away, his hands in easy reach of his hydro sword, Camille had her own hands on her sword, her belt of ninja throwing stars glinting in the dying light.
My ice fans were drawn, ready for attack. Kitana, Diana, Phoebe, Lorna, Wenzi, Vera and Brooklyn stood with their backs to the water, facing the rising beaches to land. And where the Keepers would ambush them. Alexandra stood to Huntor's back, her hands open, ready to call her blasts of sonic power. By the horizon, thunder boomed and lightning flashed. Inland, people scrambled to avoid the horrible hurricane that was coming. Inland, people moved, away from any shoreline, away from any potential dangers. Inland, people moved to safety, all, except for those who traveled in their black cars, traveled toward us, toward doom, Blood, and pain. Those who desired Indigos to chain us, to break us, to hurt us. As people hid away, the Keepers came out to play. Thunder rumbled again, lightning flashing. Huntor breathed easily, as if this was a day for a picnic, as if it was a walk through the park. A park sixty-five illion years ago. As if she heard, which I was certain she did, Phoebe chuckled. Thunder roared again, closer, so much closer.
"I hate this." Alexandra said. "The waiting, the silence, I swear it's frustrating." era let out a long sigh. "I know sister, trust me, I understand completely." "The silence is perhaps one of the worst and best times." Huntor said. "The time when all forces gather, when all forces assess one another." He pointed out to sea. "That's their way of testing u. They know we're here, waiting for them. They feel us, we feel them. The keeper have no doubt we're here, no doubt we'll try to intercept the twins before they reach these shores. They also don't know how powerful they are, that if the twins land here, nothing will survive." So that was it, stop the twins from reaching these sores, stop the sea-storm goddess, stop her from razing the entire Eastern shores. And if they did reach these shores, if somehow they got here, then we did everything we could to protect them from their own power. Because i they did, if the Sea-Storm goddess's power did reach here, then it was all over. There was no stopping the full might of her power from being unleashed on Maryland. Maryland and it's surrounding sisters, D.C. Virginia, Delaware, perhaps even further.
Thunder roared out again, lightning screaming along side it. Closer, they were closer now, and every primal part of me screamed along side them. "Steady." Huntorsaid. The strm had to be a mile r two off, rain, warm rain, began to pour down on us. No gentle pour, but a pound of water. As if the clouds overhead were just waiting to let out the full force of their fury. As if that was the starting bello f war. In seconds my hair was soaked through, but everything else stayed warm and dry do to the Indigo armor the twins Joy and Luna had designed so lon ago. "Steady." Huntor called again, a general in battle. Kitana popped her fans open, Wenzi doing the sam. Their fans, specially designed, weren't soaked by the down or rainwater.Thunder boomed again, almost right over our heads. "NOW." Huntor shouted and we moved into the water, his power keeping us from sinking.
I ran along side the oters, my feets ilent over the roiling waves. The waves in fact, grew higher and higher the further we moved. Lightning began striking down, surging directly for us. Huntor wove through the roiling waves and strikes of lightning. Alexandra clapped her hands, her own sonic blast counteracting the thunder boom. Camille's body shifted, glowing with a blue light as she changed forms swiftly. At first a dolphin, then a whale, then a shark, then seal. Alexandra clapped her hands, and I felt the swell and sigh as her power grew and then was released, soaring into the skies to met the blast of thunder. Lightning screamed down for me. I threw myself up and rolled, dodging the strike as it instead hit the water, spraying sparks. I landed on a swell of calm water and kept running forward.KITANA:
"NOW." Huntor yelled over the storm. And they were off. Sarah ran, faster than I'd ever seen her go before. I turned back to face the rising beaches. On any normal day being here would've been beautiful. The ocean behind us, the parking lot just a few hundred yards away, docks, boats, everything. Sailor or swimmer could want, not to mention the. Ittle resort too. yes, on any given day this coast would be right for the taking. But now, now it would be a war-zone. Now there would be bloodshed and pain here. Thunder roared overhead, lightning striking down to hit the sands a few dozen yards away. Rocks spewed from the strike. "Lightning rock." I heard Reina mutter in awe. "I never seen it made before." She held out her hand, but the rocks did nothing. She clenched them, but nothing happened. Then lightning struck again, mere feet from her. "Something tells me you shouldn't try that again." Phoebe called. Reina sighed, then her back straightened, "They're coming. Six cars speeding right for us." The wolf woke in m and I felt the desire for blood in my gut, in my blood.
"How far?" Diana asked, raising her silver bow. "Half a mile." Reina slid her right foot forward. "Six hundred yards, four hundred, they're coming in fast." Thunder rumbled, as if in agreement. Then, I heard the engines screaming, heard the tires squealing, and doors slamming. I saw the, ha ha, men in black racing for us. They pulled their strange weapons out and I threw up my telekinetic shield up. Darts stung my shield as they hit. I raced forward, Wenzi to my left, Diana to my right. To Wnzi's left, Vera ran, to Diana's right, Phoebe raced, to Vera's left, Lorna ran along side us, Brooklyn ran along side Phoebe, Reina running behind me. We didn't break form as the Keepers attacked. They drew strange black knives and I realized it was the stone they used given form, given weapon. I spun as one tried to take my head off, allowing my fan toswing in. He backpedaled just n time for Wenzi to come in for the kill. The man fell and we returned to our positions as the next came. I switched my Katana blade and felt the thunder boil overhead, then lightning struck, slicing down like knives, over and over. The Keeper's scattered and we took the chance, moving them further up the beach, away from the water.
My blade sang as I engaged two Keeper women. Their blck blades shown like soulless strs in an unforgiving sky. We clashed, pulled back, then clashed again. Thunder roared and I lashed out with a frontsnap. one woman stumbled back, but her friend moved in. I spun with a wide strike. The woman had no choice but to skitter back. Out of the corner of my eye, Reina flipped her blade, then stiffened. I ducked one strike, then another, then Reina screamed. I made a roundhouse, and saw a huge wave, at least fifteen feet tall, rise, rise, rise, then fall over us. I threw up my telekinesis, feeling the others do the same. The water made it's own thunder as it crashed over us, blotting out the world. I was afraid I would be swept inland, but my feet were glued to the sands, as if, as if, as, if, as if Reina was using her power to keep us upright. I held my breath, feeling my lungs burn. Then the water was at our shoulders and I gasped for breath, staring around. We were still in formation, all thanks to Reina who had her hands out, her face filled with determination. I turned to see the Keepers struggling to swim for us, their weapons still in their hands. Lightning struck and fear gutted me as science happened. The Keepers screamed as the lightning hit and electrocuted them. I felt someone's telekinesis protecting me from the shock.
I turned, about to look toward the sea, when I heard Phoebe scream, not a scream of pain, but fear. I turned back to see a large dorsal fin arrow for her. "SHARK." She shouted. Then like in a nightmare, the shark leaped from the water, jaws open, saliva spraying. Phoebe threw herself back, effectively drowning herself. Three silver arrows sprouted from the beasts jaws and it jerked violently in the throws of death. I made my way to Phoebe when another dorsal fin appeared and arrowed for me. I raised my sword and met the beast head on. The shark moved as if lead by someone. I drove my blade into it's forehead, inches from it's massive jaws. Thunder boiled again as if in outrage. Sharks began to fall, actually fall from the skies, wind, powerful winds tumbling them over and over. Diana appeared with Phoebe coughing in her arms. Wenzi appeared in a spark of fire, her eyes glowing with that ancient flame. I dove into her as a shark fell from the sky, aimed for her. We went under the surface and tumbled for a while, the fear of death in us both, then we rose and found ourselves feet from the shore. Wenzi swore and turned, but she was ripped fro me by a tangle of arms. I saw the pink and orange flesh, the hooked arms, a hint of a large beak, then she was underwater.
