Twenty-two

"So, what your saying is that this island we're walking on right now is an experiment site?" I asked as we strutted down a stone pavement. Now that I had cooled down from my frustration, Fredrick and I managed to have some real conversation about DPSI. Additionally, we said our apologies and meant good in the end.

"Sure. I mean-ever since the site failed as a park because of Clarissa-"

"All facilities were abandoned? I've done my research, just so you know and I do declare a year in university isn't too bad." I was bright with a smile now and fixed my jacket.

Fredrick put his arm out and paused before a compound. "Now...I swore Salvador was a'roaming 'round this part."

I quirked one eyebrow at this name. "Salvador?"

                                    He looked. "Oh."

"Let me guess-you went around adopting those things and been naming them?" I hushed myself.

"Why would I be an idiot to do that?" he was cross.

"EEEEA, EEEA, EEEA!" went an echo. I observed the forestry before us and spied the ivory moving as a velociraptor came dashing. The presumed male gave a flick of the head and arched his neck, trembling his throat. I also presume the first dinosaur I have my eyes on is a male. His appearance was a muddied green and black, eyes a piercing orange color. This animal might be the most colorful I've come across...that and parrots.

I gasped. "We weren't quiet enough..."

"Padre'! Eyes on me, boy!" Fredrick conducted with a firm hand.

I looked on in complete awe of his actions. I held my quivering breath and lowered to a squat, gripping my camera with sweaty palms. Hopefully, there was a chance to snap a quick photo.

"Now, now, Padre'...this is a friend of mine." He said, including me. The raptor's glassy green eyes scorned me like lasers.

That got my attention, all of a sudden. "Is he suppose to be tame like that?"

"I heard one of the trainers at Site A dominates a whole pack." He informed briefly.

How astounding, I thought! "Now that's impressive. Is he a pet of yours?"

"You could say. I tamed this boy about a year ago. Been with me ever since. Was told his pack abandoned him as a small infant-can you believe?" he explained.

"Looks like the idiocy has been declared!" I reached out my arms in celebration.

He looked too serious to be joking. "You stop. One word out of you, I can send you scampering solo."

"Now how did all this end up here?!" I exclaimed in the room.

Resting on the ground was about the biggest surprise that happened to me. Metallic shards lay in near heaps on the floor with the what seemed to be frightening animatronics replicating varieties of dinosaurs. All from Abelisaurus to Pteranodon. And just the way they were made me believed this was done by absolute professionals.

"These, no ordinary tourist or workman would find out about." Fredrick mentioned to me. He focused squarely on the animatronics. "If only I could have one."

Padre' squalled anonymously at the flooring. I could tell something was a bother for the raptor. He had probably took offense.

Fredrick snickered as he took notice of his friend. "But you know what? All I want on this island is you."

"When did this start?" I asked softly, approaching some of the models.

I was met with a solemn look from the aged man. In return, something made me suspicious on his part. "Did you work with DPSI on this?"

"Let's just say I've been around somewhat. But not for the bad reasons."
