Some people snap. Some people rage. Some act out of the blue.
But I, I acted out all of the above, not that I wanted to. Instead, my survival instinct changed to complete self-destruct in a matter of seconds to escape. It came natural to be vulnerable. All the more satisfying to be existing and hyper again, hostility in my reptilian veins.
My eyes became a deadlock stare compared to theirs-fear was an understatement. Fear would be their the only understatement with me. I made a vicious jump at her and had her whimpering on the floor.
A thought came to. This anger didn't just stem from being a victim at the wrong place at the wrong time.
I belonged to this animal.
ZAP!
He had me curled up in the corner, trembling spontaneously. Even without drawing much blood on me, he didn't fail to hurt me with a baton. But I found the agility to climb up the wall and shriek at the top of my lungs. I made my next move to the bed and out the door.
"Catch that sissy-fit!" I heard.
A man dived from my left-barely catching my arm and getting his hands on me. Luckily, my claws scored his back open and he slumped at my feet, enough time for me to savagely kick him.
My reflexes were charged. Another stranger launched himself at me before my nails caught his throat and unintentionally grappled him to the ground. I wasted no time in heading to the exit at an inhumanly speed and losing myself in a steep orchard downhill.
I took a glimpse at the tree before me, seeing a more devious way to disappear from sight. Barely comprehending my long jump, I climbed the length of the tree branch, catching up to the trunk and in a tireless effort scaling from one limb to the other.
I made one last swing and figured that's all my body could take. I was more than lucky enough to have a tree to myself. But the woods never meant enjoying your alone time for long. Every direction looked to be deeper into the forest. If it weren't for closing in on this source of humming, I would've never minded.
Something wasn't right when the static built up in my ear. I expected it to die but it was all too allusive to ignore in my consciousness-so that did it for me. I found myself running, running, running, until the scene came to my very eyes.
My human counterpart recognized her all over again, but little to no reaction stopped me from coming at her attackers. I caught the first man's attention, taking a slide into his leg beforehand & sending his head onto a solid rock. Crack went his head.
One down, one to go. I've encountered more agile men.
I spoke too soon. As soon as it happened, it all stopped in a mild heartbeat. And hearing my own heartbeat said a lot. My stare went from the bloodied butt of the hand gun to the girl that held it. Her face didn't move much, nor give any tension. All that added to her expression was the crimson.
I had a seat on the ground, empty on words to say. Then, she looked to me.
"You...found me."
Nothing came to me as remarkable just yet. Even for a girl that was turned primal. Lungs a-gasp, I offered a curt nod and put on a face.
Lara stayed put but nodded back. One hand grabbed the hidden transmitter from the seclude of her pocket and having me get a good look at it. I cocked one eyebrow and ran my finger around my earlobe, finding a voice emitter.
I could just whisper out, "What?"
She coughed terribly & helped me up. "It's okay, that voice belonged to me. Nobody but me."
"No-it sounded nothing like you!" I sounded beyond the meaning of bewildered.
"Let's just say I only have so many accents. What did they do to you?"
